2008 TOYOTA FJ CRUISER - PRODUCT DETAIL

The rugged SUV
All 2008 FJ Cruiser models are built around Toyota's powerful 4.0-litre six-cylinder engine with dual overhead cams, 24 valves, variable valve timing with intelligence, sequential multiport electronic fuel injection, and an electronic throttle control system with intelligence. This engine produces up to 239 HP @ 5,200 RPM and up to 278 lb-ft of torque @ 3,800 RPM.

The FJ Cruiser is offered with two transmissions. The FJ Cruiser with six-speed manual is rated at 14.5L/100km city and 11.2L/100km highway. The FJ Cruiser also may be fitted with an available five-speed automatic super electronically controlled transmission with overdrive, a gate-type shifter, and a lock-up torque converter. This transmission is rated at 13.5L/100km city and 10.2L/100km highway.

The FJ Cruiser six-speed manual transmission features full-time four-wheel drive while the five-speed automatic transmission features part-time four-wheel drive.  They both feature vehicle stability control, a two-speed transfer case and traction control. Automatic transmission models include a rear differential lock, while Off-Road and "C" Packages add an Active Traction Control System (ATRAC).

Handling and braking
The FJ Cruiser's heavy-duty suspension system is ready to take a pounding on or off the road, featuring a front double wishbone design and a rear four-link design with lateral track bar, plus gas shock absorbers, coil springs and stabilizer bars for front and rear. Bilstein shock absorbers are available on Off-Road packages.

All 2008 Toyota FJ Cruisers are fitted with front ventilated disc brakes and rear disc brakes, plus a full suite of braking technologies, such as: Toyota's antilock braking system, electronic brake force distribution and brake assist.

Personalizing the Cruiser
A variety of option packages allow Toyota customers to tailor their 2008 FJ Cruiser to suit their lifestyle. Buyers may customize their FJ Cruiser using the Vehicle Configurator on Toyota Canada's web site (www.toyota.ca) or in any Toyota Dealership across Canada.

Inspired by Toyota's off-road heritage
The FJ Cruiser is a 21st Century rugged SUV, but its design draws upon Toyota's decades of building trucks that have been proven in some of the harshest environments around the globe. The styling cues are not only reminiscent of Toyota's famous FJ40 Land Cruiser model, but also contribute to the FJ Cruiser's outstanding capabilities. From upright windshield, white cap and round rear corner windows to a 245mm ground clearance, a 34-degree approach and 31-degree departure angle, and extra protective undercover plates to shield the engine, fuel tank and transfer case, the FJ Cruiser is built to survive in style when the end of the road is just the start of the adventure.

Safety and Peace of Mind
The 2008 FJ Cruiser is generously equipped with safety systems to protect driver and passengers. Standard systems include dual-stage driver and front passenger airbags, front seat mounted side airbags, and front and rear head/side curtain airbags, plus three-point lap and shoulder belts with pre-tensioners and force limiters in all five seating positions, plus adjustable front seat shoulder belt anchors on the B pillars. All the while, the FJ Cruiser keeps younger occupants safe with child restraint seat anchor points.

The 2008 FJ Cruiser is provided with Toyota's no deductible, no transfer fee, comprehensive warranty that covers the entire vehicle for three years/60,000 kilometres. Power train components are covered for five years/100,000 kilometres, major emission control components for eight years/130,000 kilometres and corrosion perforation for 5 years with unlimited distance.

Toyota also provides 24-hour Roadside Assistance for all models. Help is just a phone call away at 1-888-TOYOTA-8. Roadside emergency services include battery boost, lockout service, fuel delivery, tire change, winching, and even towing. Optional Extra-Care Protection (ECP) is also available, which includes travel planning and trip interruption assistance, vehicle rental help, lubrication maintenance, and mechanical protection of 17 major mechanical component groups for up to six years/200,000 km.
