Fun to drive and surprisingly roomy, the 2014 Toyota Yaris Hatch delivers big value

Safety, affordability and style make this the ideal subcompact

(TORONTO, ON – June 6, 2013) The 2014 Toyota Yaris Hatch is the subcompact with style, space and substance – the small vehicle with big ideas about comfort, performance and safety that’s fun to drive and easy to own.

“The Yaris Hatch combines sharp, edgy styling with agile handling and ample interior room,” noted Larry Hutchinson, Managing Director, Toyota Canada Inc. “With a choice of three-door or five-door models, all generously equipped, the Yaris Hatch offers Canadian drivers epic Toyota value that’s equally at home in the downtown core or on the wide open road.”

The Yaris Hatch is built around a 106 horsepower 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that combines fun-to-drive performance with easy-to-own fuel efficiency.

All models feature front-wheel-drive, highly responsive electric power steering, and a stabilized front suspension with Macpherson gas struts and coil springs for solid handling, while a torsion beam rear suspension with coil springs is designed to maximize control while minimizing intrusion into the cargo area. A 4.7m turning radius means the Yaris Hatch gets out of even the tightest squeeze with ease.

The Yaris Hatch seats up to five adults in comfort, and with 286L of cargo space behind the front seats, there’s plenty of room for stuff – from game-day gear to groceries.

As with every Toyota since 2011, the Yaris Hatch is standard equipped with the six active technologies of the Toyota Star Safety System, plus nine airbags, high-strength passenger cabin, and other passive safety systems.

The Yaris Hatch is available in three models, each with a choice of a five-speed manual transmission (6.0L / 100 km combined) or a four-speed automatic Super ECT with overdrive (6.1L / 100 km combined) with ECO indicator:
