TORONTO, ONTARIO -  July 4, 2017 – Bolstered by the Canadian debut of the all-new Prius Prime, Toyota had its best hybrid sales month ever, with 2,205 units sold, up 7.5% compared to 2016.

It was also a record June for combined Toyota and Lexus hybrid sales, with 2,363 units sold, up 7.2% compared to last year.

Along with record truck sales, the hybrid growth led TCI to its best June ever, with 23,436 units sold overall, up 6.5% compared to last year.  The Toyota division (including Scion) sold a total of 21,062 vehicles, up 4%, and the Lexus luxury division reported a 12th consecutive monthly sales record, with 2,374 units sold, up 35.5% compared to June 2016.

Prius Prime’s introduction to the Quebec market boosts overall hybrid sales

When TCI introduced the Prius to the Canadian market in 2000, they sold 225 units across the country in the first year.  Fast forward to June 2017 and hybrid technology is selling at a whole new pace, with 144 Prius Prime units sold in one province alone during its first month of sales. A hybrid technology pioneer, Toyota has sold more than 10 million hybrid vehicles globally.
