Toronto,ON– May 27, 2011 – Visitors to the second annual ECO-WHEELS SHOW –
being held this weekend inToronto’s Distillery District – will be able to see the latest in eco-friendly transportation alternatives. The free event, sponsored byToyota Canada, will feature everything from bicycles to scooters to fuel-efficient, lower emissions vehicles from Toyota and Scion that meet the needs of urban drivers.

“Our urban spaces must be shared by people, bikes and motorized vehicles, so fuel-efficient cars are the eco-friendly choice for the eco-friendly community,” said Stephen Beatty, Chief Environmental Officer and Managing Director at Toyota Canada Inc. “We encourage show visitors to learn more about how Toyota offerings can help reduce drivers’ environmental footprint in an urban setting.”

Some of the latest, eco-friendly vehicles from Toyota and Scion will be on display at the show, including the all-new Toyota Prius v and the Prius Plug-in Hybrid. Compared to a conventional vehicle,Toyota hybrids deliver a 60 per cent reduction in fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, and a reduction of almost 70 per cent in smog-forming emissions. The micro-subcompact Scion iQ – also on display at the show in the Toyota on Front display - is a fun, fuel-efficient vehicle designed specifically for urban driving, with estimated fuel consumption of just over five litres per 100 km, which is comparable to similar vehicles that have much less passenger and cargo capacity. The car also features a class-leading turning radius at just 3.9 metres.

Show visitors will have the opportunity to take several Toyotamodels for test drives, as well as enter Toyota’s “Make Things Better” contest for a chance to win $10,000.

The ECO-WHEELS shows runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29. It is an all-outdoors event in the unique Victorian backdrop of The Distillery District, at 55 Mill StreetinToronto. For more information, visit www.eco-wheelsshow.com.
