Imagine the possibilities in the 2014 Toyota Matrix

The Canadian-built Matrix proves fun to drive is stylish and versatile

(August 22, 2013 – TORONTO) Get behind the wheel of the 2014 Toyota Matrix and discover why having room for friends and stuff has never been more stylish – or more fun. Then imagine the possibilities in the Matrix – the Canadian-built crossover with room for five adults or up to 49 cubic feet of cargo, plus a stylish silhouette and performance that takes on traffic with confidence and ease.

“The 2014 Toyota Matrix comes in two models, each with three available upgrade packages that enable Canadian drivers to spec the crossover that suits them perfectly,” noted Larry Hutchinson, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc, “and every Matrix is standard equipped with the reliability, comfort, fuel efficiency, attention to detail and safety that only a Toyota can deliver.”

Every 2014 Matrix comes with Toyota’s powerful and efficient 1.8L four-cylinder engine. Delivering 132 peak horsepower and enhanced with dual variable valve timing with intelligence (Dual VVT-i), Sequential Multiport Electronic Fuel Injection and other features, this proven engine maximizes performance and efficiency.

The 2014 Matrix is available with a choice of transmissions – a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic electronically controlled transmission – both enhanced with overdrive and ready to help drivers pass other vehicles or gas stations with equal ease.

Easy, fun driving – in town or on the highway – is assured thanks to responsive and efficient electric power steering and an independent front and torsion beam rear suspension – enhanced with stabilizer bars.

As with every new Toyota since 2011, the 2014 Matrix is also standard equipped with the six active safety technologies of the Star Safety System: Antilock Brake System, Brake Assist, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control and Smart Stop Technology work together to help drivers avoid potential accident situations. Safety is always standard on a Toyota, which is why the 2014 Matrix also features a suite of six airbags (dual-stage driver and front passenger, front seat mounted side, and front and rear side curtain) plus Active Front Headrests with Whiplash Protection, anchor points for child seats and child protector rear door locks.

Standard features includes a tilt & telescopic steering column; a four-speaker audio system featuring CD with MP3/WMA capability, auxiliary input for portable audio devices and steering wheel-mounted audio controls; a 60/40 split fold down rear seat to maximize cargo carrying versatility; a driver-focused instrument panel with outside temperature gauge, tachometer and dual trip odometer; map lamps; a 12-volt accessory power outlet; power adjustable and heated exterior mirrors; dual vanity mirrors; cargo-area interior lamp and tie-down rings; and more.

The 2014 Toyota Matrix may be enhanced with a choice of three available options packages:
  • The Convenience Package adds many comfort and convenience upgrades, including: air conditioning; an enhanced audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, a USB audio input and six speakers; power door locks with keyless entry; power windows with driver’s side auto-down function; cruise control; and more.
  • The Touring Value Package features all Convenience Package upgrades plus enhanced style and comfort, with features such as: 16” aluminum alloy wheels with locks (included at no charge); a power moon roof; fog lamps; an overhead console box; and more.
