NASCAR Champion Toyota Tundra Makes its Canadian Debut at the Calgary International Auto and Truck Show

Alberta’s own Jamie Davis of “Highway Thru Hell” also at Toyota booth to talk about Tundra’s rugged dependability

CALGARY, AB., (March 11, 2015) – Fast and nimble to win on the NASCAR circuit, yet rugged and dependable to rescue vehicles on some of northern Canada’s most difficult roads, the Toyota Tundra is one amazing pickup truck.

For all of its impressive capabilities, Tundra is a featured attraction not to be missed at the Toyota booth during this year’s Calgary International Auto and Truck Show.

The headliner is the #4 Toyota Tundra race truck that will be on display for show visitors. Driven by Eric Jones and part of Kyle Busch Motorsports, the truck is part of the Toyota team that won last year’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) manufacturer’s championship. That made it seven titles in the 11 years Toyota has participated in the series. A series record was set when the Tundra won its first 10 races last season.

Appearances by Jamie Davis will be another special Tundra attraction at the Toyota display. Davis – who is based in Alberta and stars in Discovery television’s hit series “Highway Thru Hell” – will be at the booth on the show’s final two days:

  • Saturday, March 14 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, March 15 from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Davis’ show chronicles the heavy rescue work his crew undertakes in patrolling some of the world’s most dangerous and difficult stretches of road, most notably Highways 63 and 881 that lead to Fort McMurray. With his team relying on four Tundra vehicles to meet the challenges of their job, Davis is the ideal person to attest to the capability of the Tundra under the most adverse weather and terrain conditions.

The Tundra Davis drives will be on display for the entirety of the show. It will be parked just outside the Saddledome.

Last month, Tundra won Canadian Black Book and ALG awards for the sixth consecutive year, further affirming the nameplate’s superior quality and retained value.

“The 2015 Toyota Tundra is the full-size pick-up that’s ready for any project, fully equipped for performance, comfort and safety,” said Larry Hutchinson, Vice-President, Toyota Canada Inc. “We look forward to celebrating the success of the Tundra in Calgary with our champion race truck and special appearances by Jamie Davis and the Tundra he drives that’s so vital to his work.”

The Toyota display area can be found at the BMO Centre at Stampede Park during the Calgary Auto and Truck Show, which runs from March 11-15.
