TORONTO, ON – August 28, 2019 – Electrify your daily drive or your weekend getaway with the Toyota Prius – the world’s most popular and proven self-charging gasoline-electric automobile. For 2020, Toyota makes the iconic Prius even more fun, adding standard Apple CarPlay™ plus upgraded display audio systems to every model.
“Toyota has sold more than 12 million hybrid vehicles world-wide – revolutionizing the way people get around. And it all started with the Prius,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “Over the past 20 years, hundreds of thousands of Canadians have experienced the benefits of Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive – and over that time, we’ve made Prius an even better choice for life in Canada with the addition of new styling and new features – including all-wheel-drive models and now, state of the art multimedia systems.”
New for 2020, select Prius models are now equipped with Toyota Connected Services plus a new 7” touchscreen display audio system that’s also Apple CarPlay™ compatible. This headlines Prius’ long list of powerful yet easy to use technology features. Standard features on every Prius include air conditioning with automatic temperature control, a multi-information display and eco-drive monitor, plus the Toyota Smart Key System with Push Button Start. Available upgrade packages boost the technology even further, even as they keep everything user-friendly.
The Prius has evolved over the past 20 years – and what started as a super-efficient and environmentally responsible way to get around has evolved into a sporty-looking liftback that’s great fun to drive. The fourth generation Prius is built using the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, which combines a high-strength structure, low centre of gravity, and other features to deliver a highly engaging driving experience combined with an exceptionally smooth and quiet ride.
Under the hood, the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive works seamlessly in the background, optimizing the combination of gas and electric power as you drive. For those seeking added all-season driving confidence, the Prius is also available with electric on-demand all-wheel drive (AWD-e), which provides instant torque to the rear wheels when more traction is needed, and operates in FWD mode when it’s not.
The 2020 Prius also delivers advanced safety, starting with Toyota Safety Sense P. Other safety technologies standard on all Prius models include the Toyota Star Safety System, eight airbags, active front headrests with whiplash protection, a back-up camera and a tire pressure monitoring system.
