The sedan that truly has it all: the 2017 Toyota Avalon

Styling that excites, performance that exhilarates

(TORONTO, ON – October 12, 2016) Luxury comes as standard equipment on the 2017 Toyota Avalon – the elegant and athletic full-size sedan that combines bold styling, performance to engage the senses, and an extensive list of advanced technologies that make the sophisticated simple.

“Make every journey rich and rewarding, in the Avalon,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice-President, Toyota Canada Inc. “Whether the well-appointed Touring or the impeccable Limited model, Avalon is a sedan that makes a lasting impression.”

New for 2017, the Touring trim level now joins the Limited in featuring Toyota Safety Sense P as standard equipment; this includes the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and Auto High Beam function.

Bold and athletic describes the Avalon. Elegant and innovative does too. Avalon’s performance-oriented nature is reflected in every angle and exterior line, from the aggressive front end and sculpted profile to the dual rear exhaust pipes. Power adjustable and heated mirrors linked to the driver’s seat memory system, a power moon roof with sun shade, LED headlamps, daytime running lights and tail lights, and more. Avalon’s character shines forth from the unique double-eye Projector Ellipsoid System for the low beam headlamps.

Avalon’s interior is part sanctuary, part command centre – inspiring confidence and joy at every turn. The refined wood grain finish and leather seating creates a warm, inviting space for up to five adults. Premium soft-touch materials grace the dash and doors. Touch-sensitive switches impart an advanced feel. Sophisticated interior lighting includes door courtesy lamps, front and rear area lamps, and map lamps to welcome driver and passengers, while power-adjustable and heated front seats create the perfect, comfortable environment for long journeys.

The driver-focused cockpit is separated into display and control zones and ergonomically designed. A multi-information display, eco-indicator, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, the Smart Key System with Push Button Start, steering wheel-mounted controls for the audio system, multi-information display, and more put the driver in command of every journey.

Soul-stirring and powerfully moving, Avalon is the full-size sedan that delivers full-size, premium performance. Avalon’s 3.5L V6 generates an inspired 268 peak horsepower, while sophisticated engine management technologies maximize power and efficiency. Avalon achieves an impressive fuel efficiency rating of 9.7L / 100 KM city/highway combined.

A six-speed automatic transmission features steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters for an engaging drive, while a carefully tuned suspension beautifully balances agility and ride smoothness. With a strategically reinforced chassis and highly rigid body structure, Avalon delivers exceptional straight-line stability, superb agility and responsiveness, and optimal suspension performance. Three drive modes (Normal, ECO and Sport) mean Avalon can be tuned to match the driver’s mood and road conditions, for maximum performance or maximum efficiency.

As a Toyota, the Avalon is also big on safety. Avalon’s extensive safety systems include Toyota Safety Sense P, the Toyota Star Safety System, 10 airbags, a back-up camera, direct tire pressure monitoring system, and more.

The Avalon is available in two models:

The 2017 Toyota Avalon Touring (starting MSRP: $39,900) has an extensive list of standard features, including a Display Audio system with integrated Sirius XM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth capability, Navigation, dual zone automatic climate control, leather seat surfaces, driver’s seat memory system, and more.

The 2017 Toyota Avalon Limited (starting MSRP: $44,540) builds upon the Touring model, adding even more enticing features. Standard features at this trim level include a JBL audio system, three-zone independent climate control with rear seat controls, heated and ventilated front seats, premium leather seat surfaces, a special interior lighting package, a power rear window sunshade, the Qi wireless charger for select personal electronics, exterior mirrors enhanced with puddle lamps, automatic wipers, the Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert safety systems, and more.
