Toyota Announces Recall of Certain Tundra Vehicles

TORONTO, ON. (September 11, 2014)Toyota Canada Inc. plans to conduct a voluntary safety recall of approximately 10,038 Model Year 2014 Tundra CrewMax and Double Cab vehicles.

In the involved vehicles, due to the possible misinstallation of a garnish on the center roof pillars, the garnish could interfere with the side Curtain-Shield-Airbags (CSA) in the event of a deployment, which may not allow the airbag to achieve its intended inflated shape. In some situations, this could increase the risk of injury to an occupant in the event of a crash.

Toyota is not aware of any crashes, injuries or fatalities caused by this condition.

Owners of the vehicles involved will receive a notification by mail. Toyota dealerships will inspect the center pillar garnish.  If not installed correctly, it will be replaced with a new one.

Information is available to customers by calling the Toyota Customer Interaction Centre at 1-888-TOYOTA-8 (1-888-869-6828).
