Toyota Canada Inc. reports strong April 2011 sales, with records for Scion, Toyota trucks and Lexus achieved


TORONTO, ON – May 3, 2011 – Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) today reported strong sales of 19,327 Toyota, Lexus and Scion cars, trucks and SUVs in April 2011, marking a significant increase of 9.4% from a year earlier.
 
Several records were achieved across all 3 TCI brands, with both Scion and Toyota trucks marking their best months ever, and Lexus achieving its best April on record.
 
Toyota sales in April 2011
 
Toyota sold 17,704 cars, trucks and SUVs in April, including 487 Scion vehicles. This is an increase of 8.6% from April of 2010. April was also the best month ever for Scion and each of its three models, with sales of 208 Scion tC, 181 Scion xB and 98 Scion xD vehicles.
Toyota records achieved in April 2011 (versus April 2010) include:
  • Best month ever for Toyota trucks, up 26.6%, including Tacoma 4x4, up 9.4% for its best April ever;
  • Best month ever for Venza, up 59%;
  • Best month ever for the Canadian-built RAV4, up 31.8%.
Highlights for Toyota in April 2011 (versus April 2010) include:
  • Avalon up 50%;
  • Made-in-Canada Corolla up 28.7%;
  • Highlander SUV up 26.4%, and Highlander Hybrid up 21.7%; and
  • Sienna minivan up 5.2%.
Lexus sales in April 2011
 
Lexus had its best April ever, selling 1,623 luxury cars and SUVs in April, up 18.5% from the same month the previous year. In its second month of sales, the World’s First Luxury Hybrid Sportback, the all-new Lexus CT 200h, is off to a remarkable start with sales of 185. 
Additional highlights for Lexus in April 2011 (versus April 2010) include:
  • Best month ever for the IS C, up 7.4%;
  • Lexus luxury SUV sales up 29.5%;
  • Lexus luxury car sales: up 7.7%;
  • GX 460 up 55.6%;
  • Canadian-built RX 350 up 37.6%.
As Toyota is in the final month of Red Tag Days, April’s momentum sets a positive springboard for May sales.
