Toyota Canada Releases May Sales Results

Record-setting electrified vehicles sales represented 47.4% of overall sales in May 2023

Made-in-Canada vehicles led the way

TORONTO, Ontario – June 1, 2023 – Record-setting electrified vehicles sales led the way for Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) in May, representing 47.4% of overall sales, or 10,309 units. Both Toyota and Lexus divisions saw record electrified vehicle uptake last month.

Electrified vehicles represented 56.3% of all Lexus units sold in May 2023, with NX Hybrid, NX PHEV, UXh and RX Hybrid all setting May sales records. Notably, May marked the start of sales of the RZ, the first BEV for the Lexus brand.

Electrified vehicles also represented 46.0% of all Toyota units sold in May 2023, led by record May sales for RAV4 Hybrid, RAV4 Prime and Corolla Hybrid.

Record May for Lexus

Lexus had a record month of May, selling 3,015 units, up 18.7% from May 2022. Toyota division sold 18,721 units, down 9.0% from May 2022.

Overall, TCI sold 21,736 vehicles in May 2023, down 5.9% from May 2022.

Made in Canada

Toyota and Lexus vehicles assembled in Canada led the way in May. Sales of the best-selling passenger vehicle in Canada, the Toyota RAV4, were up 5.0%, led by record May sales of the RAV4 Hybrid, up 40.7%. The Lexus NX and Lexus RX also saw record May sales, including records for their respective Hybrid versions.
