HIGHLIGHTS
 
While other brands are dropping their mid-size pickups, Toyota is committed to the needs of customers in this segment.  The Toyota Tacoma compact pick-up truck, is updated for 2012 with fresh styling plus additional standard features and updated options packages, delivers proven power, performance and versatility. The Tacoma is the product of Toyota’s rich 70-year history of building high-quality, dependable and reliable trucks, featuring rugged engineering and a choice of engines, powertrains and cabs to suit every need. Equally impressive is Tacoma’s fuel efficiency, led by the Tacoma 4x2 with four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission, the ecoENERGY Award-winner in its class at just 8.9L / 100km combined.
 
POWERTRAIN
 
  • The 2012 Toyota Tacoma is available in 4x2 and 4x4 configurations with a choice of engine size, transmission, and cab size. In all, Toyota offers eight models for 2012, giving Canadians great choice to pick a compact pick-up that best fits their needs and lifestyle:
    • 2.7L 4-cylinder engine delivers up to 159 hp and 180 lb-ft torque plus impressive fuel-efficiency, with choice of five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmissions
    • 4.0L V6 engine generates up to 236 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque, with choice of six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmissions
    • Choice of cabs: four-person Access Cab or five-person Double Cab
    • Towing and Hauling: All models feature 1,587 kg (3,500 lb) towing capacity and up to 590 kg (1,300 lb) payload; available options packages on 4x4 V6 models boost this to 2,948 kg (6,500 lb). Seven models with 6-foot cargo bed (the Tacoma 4x4 DoubleCab V6 manual has a 5-foot bed), all with removable tailgates

FEATURES
 
  • The updated 2012 Toyota Tacoma offers more features than ever before:
    • New features on all models: new front fascia including grille, headlamps, hood and bumpers; new steering wheel and shift knob designs; revised centre stack with piano-black accents; all-weather floor mats; two additional cargo tie-down hooks; folding rear-seat headrests; and new interior door trim.
    • New standard equipment on 4x2 models: Upgraded audio system with AM/FM/CD player with MP3 capability, auxiliary audio input, and easy-grip control knobs.
    • New standard equipment on 4x4 models: Upgraded audio system with AM/FM/CD player with MP3 capability, USB and auxiliary audio input, upgraded display, built-in Bluetooth and integrated XM Satellite radio, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, and easy-grip control knobs; sliding rear privacy glass; cruise control; and keyless entry.
    • New standard equipment on 4x4 Access Cab models: power exterior mirrors.
 
MODELS and OPTIONS
 
  • The 2012 Toyota Tacoma is available in eight models:
    • Tacoma 4x2 Access Cab, 2.7L 4-cylinder engine, 5-manual and 4-auto: New for 2012, the Convenience Package features sliding rear privacy glass; cruise control; keyless entry; Bluetooth; power mirrors; and leather-wrapped steering wheel. Also available: SR5 Power Package.
    • Tacoma 4x4 Access Cab, 2.7L 4-cylinder engine, 5-manual and 4-auto: Available: SR5 Power Package.
    • Tacoma 4x4 Access Cab, 4.0L V6 engine, 6-manual and 5-auto: For 2012, SR5 Power Package now includes engine oil cooler; upgraded alternator; 7-pin towing harness; Class IV weight distribution hitch; and auto-dimming rear view mirror with integrated back-up camera and compass. Also for 2012, TRD Off-Road Package now includes front skid plate; water-repellent seat material; integrated garage door opener.
    • Tacoma 4x4 Double Cab, 4.0L V6 engine, 6-manual and 5-auto: For 2012, SR5 Power Package now includes engine oil cooler; upgraded alternator; 7-pin towing harness; and Class IV weight distribution hitch. Also for 2012, TRD Sport Package now includes integrated garage door opener; turn signals on outside mirrors; water-repellent seat material. TRD Sport + Leather Package adds heated leather seats with console-mounted controls.
  • New colours added for all models: Spruce Mica; Nautical Blue Metallic
