2013 Toyota Avalon recognized with two awards in Quebec

  • Toyota Avalon named “Best Buy” full-size sedan by Le Guide de l’Auto
  • Toyota Avalon, Toyota Sequoia and Scion FR-S also receive “Clefs d’Or” from L’Annuel de l’automobile

TORONTO, ON., (September 13, 2013) – The 2013 Toyota Avalon received two major recognitions from automotive journalists in Quebec this year.

The Avalon has been chosen by Le Guide de l’Auto (guideautoweb.com) as the “Best Buy” for a full-size sedan in Canada. The Avalon was also granted a “Clef d’Or” (golden key) by L’Annuel de l’Automobile 2014 (annuelauto.com) for being the best full-size vehicle on the market.

In addition, the nine auto journalists who prepared the L’Annuel de l’Automobile book also voted to give Clefs d’Or to the Toyota Sequoia, as best full-size SUV, and the Scion FR-S, as best sport vehicle under $50,000.

Toyota designers and engineers infused the 2013 Avalon with a fresh new look and more driver-focused, responsive performance. It was also enhanced with a range of standard features, all with an 11 per cent lower starting MSRP than 2012 models.  As of the end of August, Toyota Canada sold 933 of the new Avalons in 2013, an increase of 273% over 2012.

Le Guide de l’Auto described how the Avalon “leads the pack in terms of luxury and price.” It was praised for its bold exterior – noting the “more imposing and higher-sitting new full-size grille” – and a luxurious interior, describing in particular that “the dashboard is excellent in every way.”

Each year, Le Guide de l’Auto (The Car Guide) presents awards for first place in 25 Best Buy categories. For the 2014 guide, vehicles were evaluated on price, styling, fuel consumption, comfort, performance, maintenance costs, daily drivability, reliability, and resale value, among other criteria. After independent evaluations, an editorial consensus was made to determine each category winner.

L’Annuel de l’automobile 2014 (The Automotive Annual) is the thirteenth edition of the publication, which is on sale now throughout Quebec. The 700-page book provides unique, comprehensive data sheets to provide consumers with the most in-depth information and analysis possible and determine best buys in a wide range of vehicle categories.
