Dance troupe iLuminate performs in Canada for the first time with heart-pumping, electrifying performance

Unique performance featuring dazzling dance moves and extraordinary lighting effects matches the passion and energy of the Toyota brand

(TORONTO) – With their first-ever performance in Canada, iLuminate promises to bring plenty of Toyota Waku Doki to Thursday’s opening of the 2012 Canadian International Auto Show.

Waku Doki – which in Japanese roughly translates into to “heart pumping, adrenaline racing” – is an apt way to describe the emotion one feels when watching iLuminate perform. The group dazzles audiences with their unique combination of state-of-the-art technology and electrifying entertainers.

Waku Doki is also synonymous with the passion and energy of the Toyota brand – symbolizing cars that are engaging and fun-to-drive with a strong emotional appeal – so it’s fitting that Toyota Canada brings iLuminate to Toronto to kick off the opening ceremonies at the auto show.

“A passionate, high-energy spirit of innovation makes an iLuminate performance spine-tingling, reflecting the essence of what our brand and vehicles are all about,” said Stephen Beatty, Managing Director, Toyota Canada Inc.  “We are thrilled to bring iLuminate to Canada for their first performance in this country.”

An entertainment technology company founded by dancer and computer programmer Miral Kotb, iLuminate creates the ultimate performing arts experience, enabling performers, choreographers, developers, engineers, technicians, stylists and artistic directors to produce explosive performances with customized wireless lighting programs.

iLuminate has been utilized by such artists as Chris Brown, The Black Eyed Peas, Death Cab for Cutie and Christina Aguilera, and was most recently featured in Disneyland’s elecTRONica show. iLuminate has also been featured on America’s Got Talent (in which the performance group took third place), as well as on Dancing with the Stars, the American Music Awards, BET Awards, and the Grammy Awards.
The performance by iLuminate, presented by Toyota Canada, will take place at 8:45 a.m. Thursday (February 16) on the 800 level at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
