TORONTO, ONTARIO, November 29, 2017 – It’s not just what your Toyota Tacoma can do for you – it’s what you can do with this popular and proven compact pick-up truck. New for 2018, all Tacoma models are enhanced with the additional security of Toyota Safety Sense P and the Tacoma 4x4 Double Cab Limited (Short Box) makes its debut in the line-up.

The 2018 Tacoma is athletic and aerodynamic, with a sculpted front bumper, smooth rear deck, “TOYOTA” embossed tailgate with integrated spoiler, colour-keyed fender flares and double-wall composite cargo bed. Body choices include Access Cab or Double Cab. A rear step bumper provides easy access to either a five-foot or six-foot cargo bed. And in response to demands from Canadian drivers, the Tacoma is standard equipped with a reinforced tailgate that locks to protect the payload. It’s easy to lift or lower, and is straightforward to remove when the payload is longer than the bed.

Inside, pick-up truck lovers will experience the most comfortable, quietest Tacoma cab yet. Ready for adventure, every 2018 Tacoma is standard equipped with a mount for a GoPro® camera, while frequently-used controls are designed to operate even while wearing gloves. Regardless of cab configuration, every model offers welcome rear seat versatility. Double Cab Tacoma trucks feature a 60/40 split fold down seat back and fold out seat cushions, along with under-seat storage. Access Cabs feature rear seats that fold up, offering additional, climate controlled cargo capacity.

All models sport many welcome convenience and comfort features as standard, including a Display Audio system with advanced voice recognition, a multi-information display, keyless entry, air conditioning, power windows, map lamps, tilting/telescoping steering column, cruise control, cargo bed tie-downs and a set of four tie-down cleats, and more.

Pickups are synonymous with power, and the 2018 Toyota Tacoma delivers plenty, with a choice of two engine sizes. Most models are equipped with a 278 peak horsepower 3.5L V6 that generates up to 265 lb-ft of torque. Toyota also offers the Tacoma fitted with a highly efficient, 159-peak horsepower 2.7L four-cylinder that delivers up to 180 lb-ft of torque. Towing ratings range from 1,590-2,950 kg (3,500-6,500 lb) depending on model.

Both engines are built with Variable Valve Timing, electronic throttle control system with intelligence, and other features to maximize power over a wide RPM band, while also maximizing fuel efficiency.

Transmission choices include a six-speed automatic with lock-up torque converter and a six-speed manual. Drivetrain choices include a 4x2 model with rear-wheel-drive and a range of 4x4 models with on-demand, one-touch 4WD featuring an auto limited slip rear differential, two-speed transfer case and automatic disconnecting differential.

Every Tacoma features an independent, double wishbone type front suspension with stabilizer bar, and a rear suspension built around leaf springs for confident contact between the wheels and the road – or trail.

The Toyota Tacoma also delivers impressive safety performance, through a long list of active and passive safety systems. New for 2018, all models are standard-equipped with Toyota Safety Sense P. This bundle of active safety technologies – including the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert, Automatic High Beams, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control – enhances driver capabilities to mitigate collisions, stay in lane, and see at night.
