Quebec motorsport star Maxime Pelletier will play key role at Toyota-supported youth driving program as chief instructor at St-Eustache
MONTREAL, QUEBEC, July 12, 2013 – The innovative youth driving program kartSTART – which is made possible through the support of Toyota Canada – has announced its all-star lineup of instructors for the 2013 program:
- Maxime Pelletier
- Russ Bond
- Juliana Chiovitti
Montreal kart racer Maxime Pelletier will serve as chief instructor at St-Eustache.
“When I heard this great program for Canadian youth was coming to my home province of Quebec, I knew I wanted to get involved and help the sport that has done so much for me,” said Pelletier, who is a former F80Shifter champion in the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship and was also on the podium at famed Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in a support race at the Canadian Grand Prix. “What I learned in karting has made me a much safer driver every day I’m in my car. It is fantastic that Toyota is supporting this program and I am honoured to be part of it.”
Chiovitti holds the distinction of being the only female racer in North America to hold an F125 shifter championship. She also tested Indy Lites and Toyota Atlantic championship cars.
“My family has owned a racetrack since I was very young,” said Chiovitti, who is kartSTART’s VP of Operations. “I love teaching and kartSTART gives me a chance to empower youth and to give back to the sport.”
Bond brings 30 years of karting and racing experience, including an appearance in the 1996 Toyota Atlantic Championship for Dentsu.
“I have never been as passionate about being involved in a project as I am with kartSTART,” he said. "There is nothing better than seeing the face of a youngster who has just driven something on their own for the first time."
kartSTART kicks off its 2013 National Tour in mid-July. For more information, including dates and locations, visit www.kartSTART.ca or email email@example.com.
