Record Month for Lexus Leads Toyota Canada Inc. Sales Growth in February

Electrified vehicle sales continue to climb, up 17.2%

(TORONTO, Ontario – March 1, 2019) – For the second consecutive month, Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI)’s luxury Lexus division reported a monthly sales record with 1,448 units sold in February, up 26.4%.  Overall, TCI’s February sales were up 1.4% compared to last year, with a total of 13,419 units sold. The Toyota division reported sales of 11,971 units, down 1.0% from 2018.

Electrified vehicle sales continue to climb

TCI’s hybrid electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle sales continued to grow in February with a total of 1,387 units sold, up 17.2% compared to last year.

Led by the all new Lexus UX hybrid (221 units), Lexus set a February record with 343 luxury hybrid vehicles sold.

Overall, electrified vehicles represented 10.3% of TCI’s February sales.

 Additional February Highlights:

  • TCI truck sales of 8,969 units, up 6.2% (new February Record)
  • RAV4 sales of 3,838 units, up 28.4% (new February record)
  • Lexus truck sales of 1,219 units, up 31.5% (new February record)
  • Lexus NX sales of 426 units, up 3.9% (new February record)
  • Lexus UX hybrid sales of 221 units
  • Hybrid electric vehicle sales of 1,387 units, up 17.2%
  • Camry sales of 920 units, up 26.4%
  • ES sales of 103 units, up 56.1%
