TORONTO, ON – October 7th, 2021 – Get ready to broaden your horizons, in the most adventurous subcompact SUV yet. All-new for 2022, the Toyota Corolla Cross is the newest member of the most popular automotive nameplate in the world. And with a starting MSRP under $25,000 and an easy step up to the added confidence of all wheel drive, the Corolla Cross is ready to take you on new adventures.

“At Toyota we know that well-designed and engineered small vehicles deliver big driving fun – which is why we created the all-new Corolla Cross,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “Toyota designers crafted a premium-feeling subcompact SUV, and Toyota engineers delivered: The Corolla Cross is stylish, dynamic, and capable – with smart technology features, fun-to-drive performance including sure-footed AWD options, impressive space and versatility, plus Toyota’s unmatched quality and efficiency.”

The Corolla Cross is built on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, which enabled engineers to optimize the balance between handling and ride comfort. Sharp handling includes an excellent turning radius, while the 169 horsepower 2.0L 4-cylinder Dynamic Force engine and CVT transmission with sequential shift mode deliver impressive acceleration.

Canadians will live where the snow flies (and that’s most of us, after all) will love the combination of subcompact form factor and Toyota’s efficient Dynamic Torque Control All Wheel Drive system – included on four of the six available models for a modest step up of just $1,400. On clear roads, this system operates in FWD mode for maximum fuel efficiency. But when thing get greasy under wheel, the system automatically and seamlessly directs up to 50 percent of power to the rear wheels to help drivers maintain control. And it does this with an estimated fuel efficiency of 7.8L / 100 km, city / highway combined.

Those in more temperate climates who are looking for maximum fuel efficiency may choose from two front wheel drive models, which boost fuel efficiency to an estimated 7.3L / 100 km, city / highway combined.

All models feature a rigid body design, electric power steering, and expertly tuned suspensions make the Corolla Cross nimble on city streets, while still impressively comfortable for long highway trips or encounters with rough road surfaces.

The Corolla Cross combines a right-sized body with sharp styling and class-leading cargo space, making it the ideal subcompact SUV for urban expeditions or rural getaways. And as a special treat, every model includes two-dozen Easter Eggs: 24 Corolla Cross logos hidden throughout the vehicle – representing the 24/7 dedication of the team that designed and engineered this outstanding model.

Curbside, the Corolla Cross features styling that promises adventure – with a sporty stance, bold front end, sleek profile with unique bodylines, and flared fender arches. The result is a vehicle that combines premium design with urban toughness, while minimizing driver blind spots. Toyota offers the Corolla Cross in up to seven exciting body colours (depending on trim level): Wind Chill Pearl, Barcelona Red Metallic, Blue Crush Metallic, Jet Black Mica, Celestite, Cypress, and Sonic Silver Metallic.

Inside, the cabin is comfortable, spacious, and uncluttered. Controls and gauges are carefully designed and placed to enhance the driver-focused cockpit. And with 60/40 split rear seats that fold to free up 608L of space, the Corolla Cross combines versatility with impressive cargo space.

As a Toyota, the Corolla Cross is standard equipped with an impressive package of state of the art safety systems – headlined by Toyota Safety Sense 2.0. This bundleof active safety technologies helps extend the driver’s awareness and ability to avoid collisions, or mitigate their effect. TSS 2.0 includes Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist and Road Edge Detection, Automatic High Beams, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian and Bicycle Detection, Lane Tracing Assist, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Other standard safety features include the Toyota Star Safety System, a back-up camera, and ten air bags, and a tire pressure monitoring system with auto location.
