Toyota Canada celebrating Earth Week by helping its customers make fuel-efficient vehicle choices with free, personalized fuel-efficiency reports

TCI’s focus on green innovation leads to collaboration with MyCarma, which collects detailed data on personal driving habits so drivers can choose the right fuel-efficient vehicle

TORONTO, ON., (April 23, 2013) – From introducing and evolving hybrid powertrains to rolling out new materials in vehicle design, Toyota Canada is committed to making personal mobility as environmentally-friendly as possible.

The latest example of this green innovation is a collaboration with Waterloo-based MyCarma, which uses sophisticated computer modeling and analysis to help drivers maximize their fuel efficiency. By taking into account the personal driving habits of each individual driver, MyCarma is able to provide specialized reports that indicate the predicted fuel use of any Toyota vehicle, enabling drivers to make the ideal fuel-efficiency decision on their next vehicle purchase.

“We know how important fuel costs are to our customers, which is why we build and sell the most fuel-efficient vehicles on the market, including our full lineup of hybrids,” said Sandy Di Felice, Director, External Affairs at Toyota Canada Inc. “But we also understand how the fuel costs of a new vehicle can differ from person to person based on their own unique driving habits. By teaming up with MyCarma, we’re enabling people to choose their next fuel-efficient vehicle based on the most in-depth, personalized knowledge possible.”

To commemorate Earth Week, Toyota Canada is providing 100 reports free of charge, on a first come first serve basis.

It’s a simple and free process for anyone interested. The first step is to register online atwww.mycarma.com. A MyCarma data logger will be sent to the recipient’s home. The driver plugs the logger into their car. A week’s worth of driving data is collected and the logger is sent back to Toyota Canada. The data is analyzed and the driver receives a free report online.

The MyCarma report provides a detailed analysis of how efficiently the customer currently drives and their average drive cycle.  The free report will also show predicted future fuel costs for Toyota vehicles being considered by the customer, calculated after simulations are conducted that are based on personalized driving habits. This enables fuel costs of prospective vehicles to be accurately compared based on how an individual actually drives.
