Toyota Canada Inc. August sales increase by 4.8%


  • Fourth straight monthly record for truck sales
  • Best month ever for RAV4 sales
  • 100,000 hybrid vehicles sold

 

TORONTO, ON., (September 3, 2014) – Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) sold 18,487 vehicles in August, up 4.8% versus 2013.

 

TCI truck sales of 8,978, up 9.2% compared to last year, set an all-time best for August, a fourth consecutive monthly record. That achievement was enabled by the best month of sales ever for the RAV4, with 3,660 sold, up 32.2% over last year.

 

Toyota car sales also posted an increase compared to 2013, with sales of 8,289 vehicles representing a rise of 3.4%. Corolla sales were particularly robust, at 4,680, up 18.3% over 2013.  

 

August marked a notable milestone for hybrid vehicle sales, as TCI surpassed 100,000 since the first one was sold nearly 15 years ago. Of all the hybrids sold in Canada since 2000, more than three quarters have come from Toyota and Lexus.

 

Toyota sales highlights for August 2014 (vs. 2013)

  • Toyota sales: 16,546 (up 6.8%)
  • Passenger car sales: 8,289 (up 3.4%)
    • Corolla sales: 4,680 (up 18.3%)
    • Yaris sales: 937 (up 33.5%)
  • Truck sales: 8,257 (up 10.4%) :: new August record :: fourth straight month of record sales
    • RAV4 sales: 3,660 (up 32.2%) :: Best month ever :: second straight month of record sales 
    • Sienna sales: 1,230 (up 4.0%)
    • Tundra sales: 800 (up 28.4%)   
    • 4Runner sales: 391 (up 41.7%)

    • ES sales: 227 (up 22%)
    • ESh sales: 78 (up 5.4%)
    • GS sales: 54 (up 22.7%)

    • RXh sales: 51 (up 6.3%)
    • GX sales: 25 (up 38.9%)
