Toyota Canada Inc. sets all-time record month for truck sales


  • Overall Toyota Canada Inc. sales up 1% versus May 2013
  • Lexus May sales up 14.2% over 2013
  • May sales records for Toyota RAV4, Highlander, Prius c, and Lexus LX   
 
TORONTO, ON., (June 3, 2014) – Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) sold 22,465 vehicles in May, up 1% over last year, with a best-ever month for truck sales of 9,963 units sold, up 6% compared to last May. 
 
Toyota recorded an all-time monthly record of 9,084 trucks sold, led by a record May for the RAV4 with 3,477 units sold, and the Highlander with 914 units, along with strong sales of Tundra with 1,035 units and 4-Runner with 330 units sold
 
Lexus May sales of 1,789 rose 14.2% over 2013, including a May record for the Lexus LX, up 24.2% and the Lexus IS up 165.2%.

Toyota sales highlights for May 2014 (vs. 2013)
  • Toyota sales: 20,129 (up 0.2%)
  • Passenger car sales: 11,045
    • Corolla sales: 6,107 (up 11.1%)
    • Yaris sales: 1,089 (up 0.1%)
  • Truck sales: 9,084 (up 6.2%) :: New record month
  • RAV4 sales: 3,477 (up 1.0%) :: New May record
  • Highlander (including Highlander Hybrid) sales: 914 (up 19.3%) :: New May record
  • Tacoma sales: 1,104 (up 5.2%)
  • Tundra sales: 1,035 (up 65.3%) 
  • 4Runner sales: 330 (up 35.2%)
  • Prius c sales: 452 (up 14.1%) :: New May record
  • Hybrid sales: 1,456 (up 4.0%)
 
Lexus sales highlights for May 2014 (vs. 2013)
  • Lexus sales: 1,789 (up 14.2%)
  • Luxury car sales: 910 (up 26.2%)
    • IS sales: 435 (up 165.2%)
  • Luxury SUV sales: 879 (up 4.0%)
  • LX sales: 41 (up 24.2%) :: New May record
  • RX sales: 739 (up 3.6%)
  • CT sales: 129 (up 35.8%)
  • RXh sales: 64 (up 4.9%)
  • Hybrid sales: 245 (up 9.9%)
 
Scion sales highlights for May 2014 (versus 2013)
  • Scion sales: 547
    • tC sales: 176 (up 8.6%)
    • iQ sales: 53 (up 55.9%)
