Toyota Canada Releases August Sales Results

Record-setting electrified vehicle sales represented 46.6% of overall sales in August

TORONTO, Ontario – September 5, 2023 – Record-setting electrified vehicles sales continue to grow in August for Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI), representing 46.6% of overall sales. Both Toyota and Lexus divisions reached August records for electrified vehicle uptake.

Electrified vehicles represented 44.4% of all Toyota units sold in August 2023, with record August sales for RAV4 Hybrid (up 117.0%), RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid (up 470.8%), and Corolla Hybrid (up 363.9%), including a solid first month of sales for the Grand Highlander Hybrid.

Electrified vehicles also represented 61.0% of all Lexus units sold in August 2023, with NX Hybrid, NX PHEV plug-in hybrid and RX Hybrid all facing strong demand, including a record August month for the RX Hybrid (up 515.3%).

A total of 1,749 ZEV units were among the electrified Toyota and Lexus vehicles sold in August.

 

Strong month of August overall

Overall, TCI sold 19,718 vehicles in August 2023, up 26.8% from August 2022.

Toyota division sold 17,118 units, up 26.8% from August 2022. Both the Corolla Cross and the Tundra reached August records while the Grand Highlander registered a solid first month of sales.

Lexus also had a very strong month, good for an August record, selling 2,600 units, up 26.7% from August 2022, with August sales records for both the RX and the NX lineups, as well as for the LC convertible.

 

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC) vehicles assembled in Canada led the way

August sales of the best-selling passenger vehicle in Canada, the Toyota RAV4, were up 36.9%, led by strong August sales of the RAV4 Hybrid. The TMMC-made Lexus RX and Lexus NX also saw strong August sales, including an August record for the RX lineup.
