TORONTO, Ontario (November 8th, 2023) – The Toyota Crown redefines the premium performance sedan. With bold styling, an elevated ride height, and two powerful yet efficient self-charging hybrid systems coupled to on-demand all-wheel-drive, the Crown is ready to take Canadians on a breathtaking journey. New this year, Toyota Canada introduces several enhancements that make a great sedan even better.

“A well engineered, beautiful sedan delivers driving fun like no other model can – and the Toyota Crown is designed and engineered to prove that with a long feature list of style, performance, and amenities that Canadians will love,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “The Crown is dignified and striking, loaded with the connectivity features Canadians want and the safety features they deserve, and built around a choice of advanced and efficient hybrid powertrains that deliver thrilling performance. In short, it’s everything a modern, daring sedan should be.”

The Toyota Crown expresses sleek and sophisticated style, with a prominent raised profile emphasized by side rocker panels finished in a contrasting colour. Strong body lines flow from the multi-beam LED headlamps to the tail lamps to emphasize its dignified appearance, while the fixed panoramic moon roof and large wheels convey Crown’s premium styling and quiet confidence. New this year, Toyota adds its Beyond Zero badging to the body, proclaiming the Crown’s electrified credentials.

Inside, driver and up to four passengers are invited into a welcoming cabin crafted with attention to every detail. The island architecture is spacious while putting everything within easy reach. Notable features include heated and ventilated front row seats, heated rear seats, and a leather-wrapped and heated steering wheel thoughtfully designed with intuitive controls for common vehicle functions. New this year, Toyota enhances models finished with an all-Black interior by adding contrasting white stitching, while every model is given an extra dose of sophistication with dark grey metallic finishes applied to the shift panel, door switch bases, console end panel, and steering wheel spoke decoration.

Under the hood, the Crown is exclusively electrified, with a choice of two impressive self-charging hybrid powertrains.

  • The Toyota Crown Limited grade is built around a fourth-generation Toyota Hybrid System – featuring a 2.5L four-cylinder engine, two electric motors, and an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. The result is 236 system horsepower with an estimated fuel efficiency of 5.7L/100km (city/highway combined). The Limited model features on-demand AWD with a separate, rear-mounted electric motor to power the rear wheels when needed.

  • The Toyota Crown Platinum grade features the Toyota HYBRID MAX powertrain. This delivers 340 system horsepower and an impressive 400 lb-ft of torque. The HYBRID MAX system features a 2.4L turbocharged engine, torque-heavy electric motors, and a direct shift six-speed automatic. The result is exhilarating performance and an estimated fuel efficiency of 7.8L/100km (city/highway combined). These models feature full-time electronic AWD with a rear eAxle featuring a high-output, water-cooled electric motor, plus Toyota’s Adaptive Variable Suspension system.

Every Crown is a technology showcase – including the Toyota Multimedia system. This system is a bundle of start connectivity technologies that keep drivers informed and safe while simplifying their lives behind the wheel. Toyota Multimedia integrates wirelessly with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and features Toyota’s newest interface, which improves interaction between people and vehicle through sight, touch, and voice. The Crown’s technology package is rounded out with an 11-speaker JBL Clari-Fi Premium Audio system including 12.3” touchscreen display, a 12.3” multi-information display, five USB charging ports, and a wireless charging system for smart phones.

Every Crown also comes with an impressive package of safety features headlined by Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 – the newest version of Toyota’s suite of active safety technologies and capabilities. TSS supports driver awareness and decision making to help reduce the potential for accidents. Other standard safety features include the Toyota Star Safety System, a backup camera, eight airbags, the Blind Spot Monitor System with Safe Exit Assist, Intuitive Parking Assist with Auto Braking, and an electronic parking brake with brake hold.
