Authentic Adventure Awaits: New 4Runner Trail Highlights Toyota’s 2021 Lineup Of Rugged And Refined Mid-Size Suvs

Trail package refreshes the entry-level 4Runner with additional features and style tailored for adventure

TORONTO, ONTARIO – August 31, 2020 – Be ready for anything – including go-anywhere fun – in the 2021 Toyota 4Runner. This authentic body-on-frame mid-size SUV is known for blending Toyota’s impressive truck heritage with 21st Century refinement and technologies. This year, Toyota offers Canadians a new entry-level 4Runner standard equipped with a Trail package perfect for every adventure-seeker.

“When it’s time to get away from it all – whether camping in the summer, skiing in the winter, or exploring Canada all year round – the 2021 Toyota 4Runner is the perfect vehicle that’s ready for anything,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “It’s unquestionably capable and rugged yet also surprisingly comfortable and refined. And this year, we’ve enhanced the adventure with a terrific lineup of models, headlined by the 4Runner Trail.”

The 2021 Toyota 4Runner delivers plenty of power and performance. 4Runner’s proven 4.0-litre V6 and five-speed automatic transmission deliver a peak 270 horsepower – and with a Class IV trailer hitch factory installed, every 4Runner is ready to tow up to 2,268 kg (5,000 lb). Most models feature on-demand four-wheel-drive, which delivers go-anywhere capability when needed while contributing to fuel efficiency.

4Runner’s style reflects its authentic capability, with a rugged body design featuring a power moon roof, roof rails, running boards and alloy wheels. New for 2021, all models are standard equipped with LED low beam headlights and LED fog lamps. Inside, 4Runner has generous seating for five or seven adults, depending on model. The heated front seats are large and supportive, while second row seats recline up to 16 degrees for optimal comfort, and fold at the touch of a button for instant cargo capacity. Seven person models feature split folding third row seats.

Instrumentation and controls are thoughtfully arranged and common touch points such as the heater and door handles are designed for easy use while wearing gloves. All models include the Toyota Smart Key system with push button start plus multimedia systems built around 8” display audio touchscreens and featuring steering wheel-mounted audio controls, voice recognition, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. Available on SR5 and above, Connected Services by Toyota keeps drivers connected on the go with one easy to use system. The Audio Plus with Remote package features Remote Connect (1-year trial), Safety Connect (1-year trial) and Service Connect (10-year trial) while the Premium Audio with Remote Package also adds embedded navigation and Destination Assist (1-year trial)

A long list of standard safety systems starts with Toyota Safety Sense – a bundle of active safety technologies that help extend the driver’s awareness and ability to avoid collisions, or mitigate their effect. Other standard safety features include the Toyota Star Safety System, a back-up camera and eight air bags.
