TORONTO, ONTARIO – October 27, 2020 –There’s a good reason why those who love to drive prefer the sleek and agile form of a sedan – and when it comes to sedans, the Toyota Camry leaves its competition in the rear-view mirror. Already stunning to look at and big fun to drive, Toyota takes Camry to the next level for 2021 with fresh detailing and enhanced active safety technology. And with 20 models covering four powertrains and a range of styles and features – including two all-new models for this year – there’s a 2021 Toyota Camry ready to impress every sedan lover in Canada.
“Some automakers have abandoned the sedan - but at Toyota, we love the handling, responsiveness and comfort of a classic passenger car, and we know many Canadians do, too,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “That’s why we’re committed to Camry – and making this popular model even better for 2021. Drivers who have not experienced a modern Toyota sedan owe it to themselves to put the new Camry on their test-drive list.”
From every angle, the 2021 Toyota Camry is sharp, sleek, and exhibits stunning craftsmanship. This Camry is built on the Toyota New Global Architecture platform, which enhances style and performance with an extended wheelbase, wider stance, and low centre of gravity. Models in the sportier S line feature an aggressive mesh front grille and integrated rear spoiler.
Inside, the Camry’s refined cabin puts the focus on the driver, with seats that hold everyone in comfort and all controls close to hand. Rear seats include a fold-down armrest for added comfort and split 60:40 to open up more cargo space when it’s needed.
All Camry models feature standard conveniences like Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility. Many models come equipped with Connected Services by Toyota. Those with the Audio Plus with Remote package feature Remote Connect (1 year trial), Safety Connect (1 year trial), and Service Connect (10 year trial). The Premium Audio with Remote adds Embedded Navigation and Destination Assist (1 year trial).
A long list of standard safety systems includes Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ – the latest iteration of Toyota’s bundle of active safety technologies that help extend the driver’s awareness and ability to avoid collisions or mitigate their effect. TSS 2.5+ is an enhanced version of TSS 2.0 and features intersection support, designed to detect an oncoming vehicle or pedestrian when performing a left-hand turn and may provide audio/visual alerts and automatic braking in certain conditions. In addition, TSS 2.5+ offers emergency steering assist, designed to stabilize the driver’s emergency steering maneuvers with their lane while avoiding a preceding pedestrian, bicyclist or vehicle, and also features Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist and Road Edge Detection, Automatic High Beams, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian and Bicycle Detection, Lane Tracing Assist, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Other standard safety features include the Toyota Star Safety System, a back-up camera and 10 air bags.
The 2021 Toyota Camry is offered with a choice of four powertrains.
For maximum efficiency, Toyota Camry Hybrid models are built around Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive – the most popular and proven advanced power train on the planet. This system, which never needs to be plugged in, combines a powerful yet efficient 2.5-litre four-cylinder Atkinson Cycle engine with high-torque electric motors and a continuously variable transmission. The result is 208 Net System Horsepower, impressive torque throughout the speed band, and on the LE grade, an impressive fuel efficiency rating of 4.9L / 100km in the city and 4.8L / 100km on the highway. Toyota offers four Camry Hybrid configurations for 2021 as follows:
