Impressive And Powerful, The 2018 Toyota Sequoia Makes A Statement Everywhere It Goes

2018 model line-up introduces the new Sequoia TRD Sport plus Toyota Safety Sense P as standard on all models

TORONTO, ONTARIO, November 28, 2017 – You work without compromise and play without limits – and your SUV should too. That’s the philosophy that drives the 2018 Toyota Sequoia – the full-size SUV that combines capability and comfort with premium amenities.

“Our Sequoia owners love their SUVs – but we wanted to give them even more to love for 2018,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “That’s why we’re introducing the stylish and capable Sequoia TRD Sport model, enhancing the exterior and interior styling, updating many standard features, and equipping all models with our newest state of the art safety bundle – Toyota Safety Sense P.”

The 2018 Sequoia presents a strong and athletic exterior with bold and powerful details. Large door handles are easy to use, even while wearing thick winter gloves, while the standard running boards facilitate effortless entry and exit. Each trim level features a new grille and front fascia design, and all models now feature LED headlamps, fog lamps, and daytime running lights as standard gear.

Inside, comfort and space abound with room for up to eight adults (depending on model). Three-zone independent automatic climate control ensures everyone is cozy, while heated and power-adjustable front-row seats keep driver and navigator comfortable on long adventures. Third-row seats are powered to fold flat, so Sequoia converts quickly from passenger carrier to cargo hauler. New for 2018, all models are enhanced with a revised gauge cluster design featuring high-visibility Optitron gauges and a 4.2” multi-information display. This joins a trip computer, map lamps, 12 volt power outlets for personal electronics, and a long list of other comfort and convenience amenities to make every Sequoia journey a wonderful adventure.

And those wonderful adventures can take you almost anywhere, thanks to Sequoia’s powerful drive train and comfortable ride.

Every 2018 Sequoia is built around Toyota’s proven 5.7L i-FORCE V8 with sequential multiport electronic fuel injection, electronic throttle control system with intelligence, crank hold electronic starter control, acoustic control induction system, engine oil cooler, and more. This engine generates 381 peak horsepower and up to 401 lb-ft of torque and is enhanced with a heavy duty battery, starter, alternator and heater for reliable performance in the coldest Canadian winter, plus a durable stainless steel exhaust system.

Sequoia’s engine is mated to a six-speed sequential shift mode automatic Super ECT transmission with overdrive, lockup torque converter, transmission cooler and automatic transmission fluid warmer, for the ideal combination of confident acceleration, maximum torque and optimized fuel efficiency.

Power hits the road – or the trail – through Toyota’s on-demand, one-touch 4WD system with centre differential lock, auto limited slip rear differential, two-speed transfer case and automatic disconnecting differential. Engine and transfer case are shielded from damage with protector plates. Front and rear suspensions are independent double-wishbone types for comfort and flexibility over uneven surfaces.

And when adventure requires a trailer, Sequoia offers up a 3,220 kg (7,100 lb) towing capacity, a trailer sway control system, and a standard-equipped tow package that includes a heavy-duty tow hitch receiver, 4+7 pin connectors, trailer brake control, supplemental transmission cooler, and a transmission fluid temperature gauge.

The Toyota Sequoia also delivers impressive safety performance, through a long list of active and passive safety systems. New for 2018, all models are standard-equipped with Toyota Safety Sense P. This bundle of active safety technologies – including the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beams, and full speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control – enhances driver capabilities to mitigate collisions, stay in lane, and see at night. Other safety technologies standard on all 2018 Sequoia models include the Toyota Star Safety System, the Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert systems, eight air bags, a back-up camera, direct tire pressure monitoring system, and anti-theft system.
