Refined Meets Rugged, And The Result Is Impressive: TRD Pro Model Joins The 2020 Toyota Sequoia Line-Up

Rugged styling and commanding offroad performance makes the Sequoia TRD Pro the most capable yet. Other models include the stylish Sequoia TRD Sport and the superb luxury of Sequoia Platinum

TORONTO, ON – August 19, 2019 – Toyota completes its impressive go-anywhere TRD Pro truck family with the introduction of the commanding Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro. The addition of Sequoia TRD Pro gives Canadians five options for Toyota’s full-size SUV, offering power, performance, comfort, space and amenities tailored to every need and desire.

“When you want to make a powerful statement, there’s nothing like the Toyota Sequoia and we’re pleased to add TRD Pro capabilities – already offered on the 4Runner, Tacoma and Tundra – to the Sequoia for the 2020 model year,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “Every Sequoia delivers impressive towing capability, superb comfort and is ready to face challenging off-road terrain head on.

At its heart, Sequoia is all about performance, which is why all models are built around Toyota’s powerful yet efficient 5.7 litre i-FORCE V8 engine. Generating 381 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque, Sequoia easily tows up to 3,220 kg (7,100 lb), while a convenient one-touch 4WD system and six-speed automatic transmission with sequential shift mode combine to create a driving experience that just feels effortless – even as it helps drivers maximize their fuel efficiency. Every Sequoia is factory-fitted with a tow package, featuring heavy duty tow hitch receiver, 4 and 7 pin connectors, a supplemental transmission cooler and transmission fluid temperature gauge.

The Sequoia’s impressive performance is equally expressed through its styling. All models feature alloy wheels, power adjustable and heated exterior mirrors, a power moon roof, roof rails and crossbars, running boards, a chrome grille surround, LED headlights and daytime running lamps.

Inside, a comfortable interior accommodates seven or eight adults with plenty of space. Sequoia features a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat for optimum comfort, plus four-way power adjustable front passenger’s seat. Second row seats are either a bench or captain’s seats, depending on model, while the powered third row seat folds flat to easily handle cases and boxes. With the second row seats also stowed, there’s 120 cubic feet of additional space available for cargo – making it easy to transport almost anything. Thoughtful cargo area tie-down rings and shopping bag hooks make it easy to secure the load, too.

Comfort and convenience features of note include a three-zone independent climate control system, leather seating, heated front seats, a conversation mirror, auto-dimming rear view mirror with integrated compass, a power tailgate window, map lamps, plenty of in-cabin storage, 12v accessory power outlet with retained accessory power, integrated garage door opener, and more.

For the first time, the Toyota Smart Key System with Push Button Start is now standard equipment on all models. Other new technology features include a seven-inch touch screen with integrated Sirius XM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth® connectivity, advanced voice recognition, and compatibility with both Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. All models come standard with Connected Services by Toyota – Audio Plus with Remote package– which includes Safety Connect, Remote Connect and Service Connect.

All Sequoia models also deliver full-size safety, starting with Toyota Safety Sense P. Standard on every Sequoia, this bundle of active safety technologies – including the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beams, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control – enhances driver capabilities to mitigate collisions, stay in lane, and see at night. Other safety technologies standard on all Sequoia models include the Toyota Star Safety System, eight airbags, the Toyota Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, a back-up camera, and direct tire pressure monitoring system.
