Toyota Canada Inc. reports August sales


TORONTO, ON – September 1, 2010 – Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) today reported August sales of 12,862 Toyota and Lexus cars, trucks and SUVs, down 29.5% from August 2009. This included 11,609 Toyota models (down 30.5%) and 1,253 Lexus luxury vehicles (down 18.2%).
 
The Canadian market trend in favour of trucks, SUVs and crossover vehicles over the past few months is reflected in Toyota Canada’s sales. In addition, new model offerings from Toyota and Lexus continue to stand out as popular choices for Canadian drivers in August.
 
Highlights for Toyota in August 2010 (versus August 2009):
  • Toyota 4Runner up 347.5%
  • Toyota Avalon up 336.4%
  • Toyota FJ Cruiser up 97.4%
  • Toyota Sienna up 63.5%
  • Toyota Tundra 4x4 up 2.4%
“As we head into our largest September sales event, the Toyota More For You 2010 Clearout, we’re offering great cash rebates of up to $6,000 on select models,” said Warren Orton, Director at Toyota Canada Inc. “We’re also rolling out some of our best lease and finance offers of the year, including down-payment matching of up to $500 on the 2010 Canadian-built Toyota Corolla and Toyota Matrix models, plus the 2010 Toyota Yaris sedan or hatchback. Now is the best time for Canadians to put a new Toyota in their driveway.”
 
Canadian consumers can look forward to the launch of Scion in September 2010, with three new 2011 models: the all-new Scion tC performance sports coupe, the iconic xB urban utility vehicle and the xD 5-door urban subcompact.
 
Highlights for Lexus in August 2010 (versus August 2009):
  • Best month ever for Lexus HS 250h, since sales began in September 2009
  • Lexus LS 460 up 75%
  • Lexus GX 460 up 30%
