Helping to reduce accidents by teaching Canadians about the safety features in their vehicle

According to research from the Traffic Injury Research Foundation (TIRF), Canadians believe themselves to be safe drivers and rank safety second only to price in terms of the top priorities when purchasing a vehicle. But, with the exception of ABS and traction control, less than one-third of Canadian drivers are familiar with the various safety features common in many cars today.

 

Recognizing that increased knowledge of safety features can have a positive impact on driving, TIRF, with support from the Toyota Canada Foundation, created Brain on Board (brainonboard.ca), a program to teach drivers about the safety features available to them on their vehicles and to share safe driving tips and habits.

Resource information including fact sheets, videos and FAQs are conveniently available via brainonboard.ca, so drivers can “tune-up” on safety tips and become more mindful about their driving behaviours when on the road.
