Advanced, fun to drive and perfect for life in the city: the 2013 Toyota Prius c

Subcompact version of the world’s most popular and proven hybrid is agile and versatile

(TORONTO, ON – January 28, 2013) Get behind the wheel of the 2013 Toyota Prius c – the subcompact version of the world’s most popular and proven family of advanced, fuel efficient and environmentally responsible hybrid vehicles.

The Prius c slips in and out of small parking spaces and narrow lanes, takes even the tightest corners with ease, and dramatically cuts visits to the gas station with a remarkable fuel efficiency of just 3.5L/100KM in urban driving (3.7L/100KM city/highway combined).

At the same time, the Prius c features a surprising amount of space with room for five adults and an impressive 17 cubic feet of cargo space. Equally impressive is the long list of standard and available technology enabled by the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive – from regenerative braking system and short-range electric vehicle mode, to available touch tracer steering wheel controls for audio and HVAC functions.

“With two models for 2013 – each with an available upgrade package – the Toyota Prius c offers Canadian drivers a winning combination of driving fun, versatility, remarkable fuel efficiency and low emissions,” said Larry Hutchinson, Managing Director, Toyota Canada Inc. “The Prius c is also the most affordable Toyota hybrid to date, enabling even more Canadians to enjoy the many advantages of Toyota’s family of advanced hybrid vehicles.”

Every 2013 Toyota Prius c features a 99 net horsepower Hybrid Synergy Drive built around a 1.5L Atkinson Cycle engine, high torque electric motor, efficient storage battery and sophisticated power management system, mated to a continuously variable transmission. Drivers may select from Normal, ECO or – for short distances – in EV Modes as the mood strikes, and enjoy the responsive, confident handling of the Prius c thanks to its low centre of gravity, a suspension carefully tuned to balance responsive handling with ride comfort, and 4.8m turning radius.

The Prius c is big on safety, too, from the hybrid system’s regenerative braking feature to nine airbags, to fast-acting, highly visible and ultra reliable LED brake lamps. As with every Toyota since the 2011 model year, the 2013 Prius c is also standard equipped with the six active safety technologies of the Star Safety System: Antilock Brake System, Brake Assist, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control and Smart Stop Technology that work together to help drivers avoid potential accident situations.

The 2013 Toyota Prius c (MRSP: $20,440) boasts a generous helping of standard features, including: an audio system with USB input and Bluetooth capability; air conditioning with automatic temperature control; Multi-information Display and 3.5” LCD display; power locks with keyless entry; power windows with driver’s side auto up/down; tilting/telescoping steering wheel with audio and HVAC controls; 12v accessory outlet; power adjustable heated mirrors; and more.
  • An available Upgrade Package adds: premium cloth seats; cruise control; additional speakers for the audio system; a leather covered instrument panel; and other comfort and convenience amenities.
