The 2008 Toyota Corolla includes special 20th Anniversary Edition for Canada
July 9, 2007 (TORONTO, Ontario) - Toyota Canada introduced the 2008 Toyota Corolla in three trim levels and several special options packages, including a unique-to-Canada 20th Anniversary Edition to celebrate two decades of building one of Canada's most popular passenger cars here in Canada.
“The Corolla is a true success story for Canada - not only as one of the most popular cars sold in this country, but also as one of the contributing factors to the job creation and prosperity of the communities around the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada facilities. Literally thousands of Canadians have been involved in building the Corolla over the past 20 years,” said Tony Wearing, Managing Director of Toyota Canada Inc. “We're pleased to recognize this achievement by offering Canadians a 20th Anniversary Edition Corolla in the 2008 model year.”
Toyota broke ground for Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Inc. (TMMC) on May 6th, 1987, and the first car - a blue mica four-door Corolla Sedan - rolled off the line on November 30th, 1988. Since then, TMMC has built almost 2 million Corollas for the North American market, and currently builds the Toyota Matrix, Corolla, Lexus RX 350 and four-cylinder (1.8 litre) engines.
For 2008, the Toyota Corolla comes in three trim levels: the Corolla CE, Corolla Sport, and the Corolla LE.
The Corolla CE is equipped with many standard features often available only as options or at higher trim levels in the compact segment. These include the following:
The Corolla Sport also comes equipped with many standard performance and style enhancing features:
As the top trim level, the Corolla LE features many comfort, convenience and style appointments. These include:

EFFICIENT and FUN TO DRIVE
All 2008 Corollas feature Toyota's proven 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine with dual overhead cams, 16 valves, and variable valve timing with intelligence. This engine produces up to 126 HP @ 6,000 RPM and up to 122 lb-ft of torque @ 4,200 RPM, while qualifying as an emissions-friendly Tier 2 Bin 5 vehicle.
All models are available with a four-speed automatic Electronically Controlled Transmission (ECT) with overdrive, rated at 7.8L/100km in the city and 5.6L/100km on the highway. 20th ANNIVERSARY EDITION COMMEMORATES COROLLA'S LONG HISTORY IN CANADA
Three option packages are offered on the Corolla CE. The Convenience option package adds air conditioning, a cabin air filter, power door locks and keyless entry. To this, the Enhanced Convenience option package adds power windows with driver-side auto-down and cruise control.
The 20th Anniversary Edition Corolla CE commemorates Canada's long history of building Corolla's right here at home. TMMC's dedication to quality and its many successes are well recognized throughout the automotive industry, prompting Toyota Motor Corp. to award TMMC the first Lexus assembly operation outside of Japan in 2003, and a new satellite plant - the first greenfield automotive assembly plant to be built in Canada in 20 years - in nearby Woodstock, Ontario. That plant will open in 2008, TMMC's 20th anniversary of production.
This limited edition Corolla CE is the only leading car in the compact segment to offer a moon roof, power group and alloys for under $20,000. The 20th Anniversary Edition Corolla CE is also adorned with special badges and adds the following comfort, convenience and style features:
UNIQUE MOONROOF PACKAGES FOR COROLLA SPORT AND LE
The Moonroof option package for the Corolla Sport adds cruise control and a power moonroof. The Corolla LE is well-appointed with the Moonroof option package, which adds front seat mounted side airbags, front and rear head/side curtain airbags, a power moonroof and an anti-theft security system.
