Toyota announces specification changes, model revisions and new pricing on 9 models .


(TORONTO) – As part of Toyota’s commitment to transparent pricing, new prices are being announced on 9 Toyota models. Revised pricing reflects new specifications changes, new 2009 model year introductions and retaining competitively priced products with the U.S. and Canadian markets. 

“In 2008, Toyota was the first full-line automobile company to respond to the market conditions of a rising dollar with new suggested retail pricing, said Stephen Beatty, Managing Director of Toyota Canada Inc. “We continue to monitor the market to offer Canadians the right vehicle, at the right time and at the right price.” 

2009 model year Toyota vehicles launching soon include:

  • Yaris with a trunk offers a new starting MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price) of $13,945. A new grille design puts a fresh face on this popular model. A new Appearance Package features unique aluminum alloy wheels, fog lamps and cruise control. Some models enjoy MSRP reductions up to $550.
  • Starting September 15, 2008, Yaris Hatchback will carry a new starting MSRP of $13,210.
  • The popular sporty Yaris Hatchback RS 3-door and 5-door models add new standard features including: power remote heated mirrors, four additional airbags and cruise control on automatic transmission models.
  • A newly revised RAV4 now starts at an MSRP of $26,500. In anticipation of the continued Canadian focus on the environment and fuel efficiency, Toyota offers a new 2.5L 4 cylinder engine for RAV4 that not only provides more power, but better fuel efficiency when compared to the previous model. An exciting line-up anticipates production of the RAV4 at Toyota’s new Canadian assembly plant later this year, and features six models loaded ,with new standard features, such as: active front headrests, revised grille, bumper and lamp designs, and a new fuel economy meter.
  • Prius, following a $1,900 reduction on 2008 models on July 1, has a new MSRP for its 2009 models. The 2009 base model now carries a starting MSRP of $27,400, a reduction of $200 following a change to the standard equipment alloy wheels.
  • Sienna, as announced earlier this month, now carries a lower starting MSRP of $28,990. The 2009 model includes 6 standard airbags, Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control across all models. Plus, with power door locks, mirrors and windows; dual-zone air conditioning; cruise control; Canadians are already saving as much as $1,500 versus the comparable 2008 model.
  • Avalon now starts at an MSRP of $37,755, Canadians will see lower introductory prices by as much as $2085 versus the comparable 2008 model while adding additional features. New optional packages add driver seat and exterior mirror memory settings.
  • Beginning September 15, 2008, Highlander will carry a starting MSRP of $37,150. The new base model now includes power rear door with jam protection, rear glass hatch, power driver seat, premium cloth seat coverings, in-dash six-disc CD changer and fog lamps as standard equipment. Moreover, Toyota will begin production of a new 4 cylinder model later this year to offer greater value and fuel efficiency to Canadians.

Remaining competitive in the North American marketplace, the all-new Canadian-built Corolla launched earlier this year carries a new starting MSRP of $14,835, and an MSRP of $15,975 for the all-new Matrix crossover starting on September 3, 2008.
