Power and performance
The 2011 Sequoia is offered with a choice of two power trains:
  • Sequoia SR5 is offered with a powerful yet efficient 4.6L i-Force V8 that delivers 310 peak horsepower and 327 lb-ft of torque
  • Sequoia Limited and Platinum are equipped with the capable 5.7L i-Force V8, which delivers 381 horsepower and peak torque of 401 lb-ft
Each V8 engine features 32 valves, dual overhead cams, dual variable valve timing with intelligence, sequential multiport electronic fuel injection, an electronic throttle control system with intelligence, a crank hold electronic starter control alongside other systems that maximize power and efficiency with an emissions rating of Tier 2 Bin 5. A standard heavy duty battery, starter, alternator and heater ensures the Sequoia is more than capable, even in extreme weather.
 
Coupled to a six-speed, super electronically controlled automatic transmission with sequential shift mode, the Sequoia achieves a combined city/highway fuel efficiency of 13.8L/100KM with the 4.6L engine, and 14.0L/100KM with the 5.7L engine.
 
A transmission cooler and automatic fluid warmer ensure the transmission operates smoothly and efficiently under a full range of weather and towing conditions.
 
All models are equipped with a towing package including heavy-duty hitch receiver, 4 and 7 pin wiring harness and transmission fluid temperature gauge. The Tow Haul Mode allows the transmission to work more effectively with heavy tow loads.
 
Safety
Every Sequoia is fitted with a generous suite of active and passive safety systems:
  • Standard handling features include Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)
  • Anti-lock braking system with Brake Assist (BA), and electronic brake force distribution technologies.
  • Eight airbags (dual-stage driver and front passenger air bags, front seat mounted side airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, and roll-sensing front and rear head/side curtain airbags).
  • Seatbelt pretensioners and force limiters for the front seatbelts, plus anchor height adjusters for the front and second rows.
  • Anchor points for child-restraint seats and child protector rear door locks.
  • Front windshield de-icer and headlamp washers
Performance and handling
One-touch, on-demand four-wheel-drive gives the Sequoia go-anywhere performance, enhanced with a centre differential lock with two-speed transfer case and automatic limited slip rear differential.
 
Sequoia’s independent front and rear suspensions with gas shocks and coil springs provide an ideal balance of ride, handling and control.
The Sequoia Platinum features advanced suspension control technology with a front and rear adaptive variable suspension system combined with a load levelling rear air suspension with three height settings.

Pricing and availability
The 2011 Toyota Sequoia is now on sale across Canada. Toyota’s go-anywhere full-size SUV carries a manufacturer’s suggested retail price starting at $48,820 for the Sequoia SR5 with 4.6L engine, $57,735 for the Sequoia Limited with 5.7L engine, and $65,975 for the Sequoia Platinum with 5.7L engine.
