Toyota and Lexus vehicles continue to deliver performance, comfort and efficiency to Canadians in April


Toyota Venza, Sienna and Canadian-built Matrix all register sales gains
 
 
(TORONTO) – In April, Toyota and Lexus continued to bring performance, comfort and efficiency to Canadian consumers.
 
Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) today reported April sales of 17,673 Toyota and Lexus cars, trucks and SUVs (off 16.7% from April 2009). Last month’s sales included 16,303 Toyota models (off 16.8%) and 1,370 Lexus luxury vehicles (off 15.5%).
 
Toyota and Lexus’ commitment to environmental leadership and offering a more diverse selection of fuel efficient vehicles to the Canadian market continued to resonate with Canadians this month – Highlander Hybrid, Prius and the Lexus HS 250h continue to show positive results in April.
 
Highlights for Toyota in April 2010 (versus April 2009):
  • 6,883 Toyota trucks sold (up 10%) for best ever April
  • 1,962 Canadian-built Toyota Matrix (up 33.6%)
  • 1,058 Toyota Venza (up 11.6%) – best ever April
  • 1,027 Toyota Sienna (up 83.1%)
  • 348 Toyota Highlander (up 13.4%)
  • 317 Toyota Prius (up 32.6%)
  • 224 Toyota 4Runner (up 409.1%)
  • 92 Toyota Highlander Hybrid (up 19.5%)
“Canadians have embraced the next-generation editions of two Toyota models – the 2011 Sienna minivan, which had its first full month of sales in April, and the 2010 4Runner SUV, which we introduced at the end of 2009. In addition, Canadians continue to tell us that our segment-defining Toyota Venza provides the performance, versatility and comfort that today’s driver demands,” noted Warren Orton, Director at TCI. “We look forward to welcoming more Canadians to the Toyota family in May as our Best Ever Red Tag Days continues, offering drivers 0% financing over 60 months and lease rates as low as 0.9% over 48 months.”
 
Highlights for Lexus in April 2010 (versus April 2009):
  • 92 Lexus HS 250h (new model - up 26% versus March 2010)
  • 33 Lexus LS 460 (up 57.1%)
  • 27 Lexus GX 460 (up 42.1%)
