Just in time for the holidays: Two lucky Delta hotel guests win 2012 Toyota Prius cars

Winners from Toronto and West Vancouver to enjoy new hybrid vehicles

December 23, 2011 – TORONTO – With the holiday season in full swing, Delta Hotels and Resorts is pleased to announce that two contest winners have received special gifts to make the season bright. Each has won a new 2012 Toyota Prius.

The winners are Steve Livingstone of Toronto and Marlene Bimner of West Vancouver.

“You never really think you have a chance to win so I was surprised to get the news – especially at Christmas time,” said Steve Livingstone, a vice-president of sales for a technology consultancy, who entered the contest while staying at a Delta Hotel on a business trip to Vancouver. “The Prius will be the second Toyota in our household. We’re a family that understands the great value Toyota provides as our Sienna gives us comfort and convenience.  The Prius is going to give us the same kind of package of great attributes, and I can hardly wait to drive it.”

Bimner, a semi-retired medical sales representative, entered the contest while staying at the Delta Bessborough in Saskatoon.

“It’s an amazing gift for the holidays. I’m overwhelmed. I have always found the staff at Delta Hotels to be generous when I stay there but this is generosity beyond what I can imagine,” said Bimner. “I told some of my friends about winning the Prius and all of them were raving about it. I do a lot of driving in the city so a car that’s so amazing on gas and mileage is perfect for me.”

The announcement of the draw for the two car winners concludes Delta’s major fall promotion called “Miles and Miles.” Between September 26 and November 30, travelers who booked and stayed at any Delta hotel or resort received 15 per cent off their Air Canada Tango and Tango Plus airfare to any destination in Canada. Guests who booked additional trips combining Delta hotel and resort stays and Air Canada flights   were eligible for up to 5,000 Aeroplan Miles, one Air Canada Maple Leaf LoungeTM Pass and a free Delta room night.

In addition, for every hotel stay, travelers were automatically entered for a chance to win 50,000 Aeroplan Miles, one of two vacation packages, or the contest’s grand prizes of the two Toyota Prius vehicles.

“It was exciting for us to have this contest and provide business and leisure travelers alike with such great savings on their fall travels,” said Ken Lambert, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Delta Hotels and Resorts. “Partnering with Toyota and choosing such an efficient car as the Prius for the grand prize was important for us and a perfect fit with our national sustainability program, Delta Greens.”

“The Prius is renowned not just as an environmentally-friendly hybrid vehicle with class-leading fuel efficiency, but for its convenience, safety and functionality. It’s also very fun to drive," said Stephen Beatty, Managing Director at Toyota Canada Inc. "The contest winners will be able to enjoy a truly inspiring vehicle that goes beyond the practical to the aspirational, with exciting styling, powerful performance and more features than ever.”
