The 2014 Toyota Sequoia does it all without breaking a sweat

Full-size SUV with room for 7 or 8 is powerful, commanding and always capable

(August 26, 2013 – TORONTO) Cruise. Haul. Do it all. The Toyota Sequoia is the full-size SUV that delivers the perfect combination of capability, durability and safety – plus a full-size range of premium comfort and convenience features.

“The 2014 Sequoia makes a statement like no other full-size SUV,” said Larry Hutchinson, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “Enhanced with Toyota technology to maximize power, efficiency, vehicle control and capability, every Sequoia delivers full-size adventure for seven or eight adults or up to 120 cubic feet of cargo, as only a Toyota SUV can.”

Every 2014 Toyota Sequoia is built around a powerful yet efficient 381 horsepower 5.7 L i-FORCE V8 that generates up to 401 lb-ft of torque. Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence, Sequential Multiport Electronic Fuel Injection, crank hold electronic starter control, Acoustic Control Induction System and other systems maximize power and efficiency, while the battery, starter, alternator and heater are all heavy-duty models designed for durability and reliable performance.

This is mated to a six-speed automatic Super ECT sequential shift mode transmission with overdrive, lock up torque converter and dedicated transmission cooler plus transmission fluid warmer. Power is delivered to the wheels via one-touch, on-demand four-wheel drive with an automatic disconnecting differential, centre differential lock and auto-limited slip rear differential for seamless, on-the-fly shifting between rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive. This configuration delivers a combined city/highway fuel efficiency of 14.8 L / 100 KM.

Every Sequoia is standard equipped with a tow package, featuring heavy duty tow hitch receiver, 4 and 7 pin electrical connectors, trailer brake controller prewire, and more, giving the Sequoia a 7,000 lb towing capability.

The Sequoia’s suspension system delivers sure-footed driving confidence, while providing a surprisingly comfortable ride on the open road. Front and rear suspensions feature independent double-wishbone systems with shock absorbers, coil springs and stabilizer bars. A trailer sway control systems provides additional stability when towing.

Meantime, special underbody plates protect the engine and transfer case from hazards when adventure takes you off the beaten path.

Safety is always standard on a Toyota, so every Sequoia features eight airbags (dual-stage driver and front passenger, driver and front passenger knee, front seat mounted side, and roll-sensing front and rear head/side curtain) plus a blind-spot monitoring system, anchor points for child seats, power rear door with jam protection, child protector rear door locks, a back-up camera, and a direct tire pressure monitoring system. As with every new Toyota since 2011, the 2014 Sequoia is also standard equipped with the six active safety technologies of the Star Safety System: Antilock Brake System, Brake Assist, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Vehicle Stability Control, Active Traction Control and Smart Stop Technology work together to help drivers avoid potential accident situations.

Every Sequoia is generously equipped with comfort and convenience features, including: Audio systems with USB audio input, Bluetooth capability, integrated XM Satellite Radio and steering wheel mounted audio controls; three-zone independent automatic climate control with air conditioning and steering wheel-mounted HVAC controls; a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat and four-way power adjustable front passenger seat; heated front-row seats; third-row 60/40 split fold-flat rear bench seat; a conversation mirror; a trip computer; auto-dimming rear-view mirror with integrated compass and backup camera; power door locks with keyless entry; power windows with front row auto up/down function and power tailgate window; plenty of in-cabin and cargo-area storage; map lamps; 12-volt accessory power outlets and retained accessory power; anti-theft system with engine immobilizer; running boards; roof rails and crossbars; a power moon roof; headlamp washers and fog lamps; and more.
