Toyota Statement Regarding Joint Canada-Japan Study on Free Trade Deal

Toyota Canada Inc. welcomes the governments of Canada and Japan launching a joint study on the feasibility of a free trade deal between the two countries, beginning a process that in time will hopefully lead to a bilateral agreement that is beneficial to both countries.

Free trade provides benefits to consumers and business by ensuring open and competitive markets. Essential to free trade agreements is the leadership of Minister Van Loan to ensure they are completed in a manner that treats all stakeholders fairly.

Toyota has long been committed to building the Japan/Canada relationship, as demonstrated by our 46-year Canadian history that includes having established leading manufacturing, sales and dealership operations in Canada,  creating over 15000 jobs, investing billions of dollars, building over 4 million vehicles and helping grow countless local communities.
