TORONTO, ON., June 1, 2016 – Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) sold 22,158 Toyota, Scion and Lexus vehicles in May, down 0.7% compared to 2015. For the seventeenth straight month, a monthly record was set for TCI truck sales, with 11,938 units sold, up 6.9%.
Also of note, TCI hybrid sales were up 44.5% compared to last year, with 1,970 sold, led by Prius family sales of 871 units, up 26%.
The Toyota division (including Scion) recorded May sales of 20,119 units, down 0.8% compared to 2015, including May records for the sales of Toyota trucks, with 10,547 sold, up 4.9%.
The Lexus division recorded its twentieth consecutive monthly sales record, with 2,039 Lexus luxury cars and SUVs sold in May, up 0.6% compared to last year. Lexus luxury SUVs also achieved a record for the month of May with 1,391 sold, up 24.4%.
