(TORONTO, ONTARIO – June 1, 2017) Led by truck sales – and the Canadian-made RAV4 in particular – Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) posted a notable increase in sales of 23,893 vehicles for May, up 7.8% compared to last year.
TCI’s numbers include an eleventh straight monthly sales record for the Lexus luxury division, with 2,282 units sold in May, up 11.9% compared to last year, and Toyota division (including Scion) sales of 21,611 units, up 7.4% compared to last year.
All-time record for TCI truck sales
TCI established a best month ever for truck sales last month, with 14,088 sold in May, up 18% compared to last year. Leading the way was the made-in-Canada Toyota RAV4, with an all-time best sales month, at 5,355 sold in May, up 10% compared to 2016.
Debut month for C-HR sales
May marked the debut month of sales for the Toyota C-HR, the all-new Compact High-Rider ready to bring sexy style and sporty performance to Canadian streets. With 690 units sold in May, the all-new C-HR is off to a great start, even when compared to the 167 units sold in the first sales month of the Toyota RAV4 – now Canada’s most popular Toyota truck.
