(TORONTO, ONTARIO – January 31, 2018) Toyota Canada Inc. today announced that it is conducting a safety recall in Canada of approximately 4,570 Model Year 2016 Toyota Prius and Lexus RX vehicles and Model Year 2015 – 2016 Lexus NX vehicles.
The involved vehicles have air bag systems where an open circuit could be created over time. If this were to occur, the air bag warning light would illuminate and the side and curtain shield air bags and/or front air bags may not deploy. Air bag non-deployment could increase the risk of injury to the occupants in the event of a crash.
For all involved vehicles, Toyota and Lexus dealers will inspect the serial number of the sensors and, if necessary, replace the sensors with new ones at no cost to customers. All known owners will receive a notification by first-class mail starting in early April 2018.
Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is subject to change over time. For the most up-to-date Safety Recall information on Toyota and Lexus vehicles, customers should check their vehicle’s status by visiting toyota.ca/recall or lexus.ca/recall and entering the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
For any additional questions, customer support is also available by calling Toyota Customer Interaction Centre at 1-888-TOYOTA-8(1-888-869-6828) or Lexus Customer Service at 1-800-26-LEXUS (1-800-265-3987).
