Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain Prius c vehicles

TORONTO, ON – June 26, 2019 – Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) is conducting a safety recall involving certain 2018 and 2019 Model Year Prius c vehicles in Canada. Approximately 284 vehicles are involved in this recall.

Due to a manufacturing issue, a component may stop performing its function of converting power from the hybrid vehicle battery for use by certain vehicle systems.  If this occurs, warning lights will illuminate, audible chimes will sound, and messages will be displayed on the instrument panel.  If the vehicle continues to be operated, it could lose motive power.  Loss of motive power while driving at higher speeds could increase the risk of a crash.

All known owners of the subject vehicles will be notified by first class mail to return their vehicles to a Toyota dealer.  For all involved vehicles, based on the vehicle identification number or an inspection, the dealer will replace the affected DC-DC converter with a new one at no cost to customers.

Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is subject to change over time.  For the most up-to-date Safety Recall information on Toyota vehicles, customers should check their vehicle’s status by visiting Toyota.ca/recall and entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). For any additional questions, customer support is also available by calling Toyota Customer Interaction Centre at 1-888-TOYOTA-8 (1-888-869-6828).
