TORONTO, Ontario – June 1, 2021 – Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) reported its fifth consecutive month of record electrified vehicle sales with 6,648 units sold, led by the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, Highlander Hybrid and all-hybrid Sienna.
Electrified vehicles accounted for 28.8% of TCI’s overall sales following two previous months at over 30%, reflecting both the consistent demand for alternative powertrains in Canada and Toyota’s ongoing commitment to electrification.
Meanwhile, TCI truck and SUV sales hit a record for the fourth straight month with 15,800 units sold due to combined efforts from Toyota RAV4, Highlander, C-HR, Tacoma, Sienna and Lexus RX, NX and UX.
TCI reported overall sales of 23,061 vehicles for the month, up 70.9% from 2020, with the Toyota division selling 20,709 units.
Led by the Lexus RX, NX and IS, TCI’s Lexus luxury division sold 2,352 units, up 64.6% year-over-year, for its third consecutive month of record sales.
