Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain Toyota vehicles

TORONTO, Ontario – December 21st, 2022 – Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain 2023 model year GR Supra vehicles in Canada. Approximately 38 vehicles are involved in this recall.

The subject vehicles are equipped with an accessory wheel lock bolt set, consisting of one wheel lock bolt per wheel.  The vehicles were erroneously provided with an incorrect wheel lock set, not specified for those vehicles, by a specific vehicle processing facility for installation by dealers. When an incorrect wheel lock bolt is installed, the bolt hole on the wheel and axle hub threads will be damaged, and the strength of the bolted joint can no longer be ensured.  In this condition, insufficient bolt clamping force may lead to wheel bolt loosening and the possibility of wheel detachment.  If a wheel detaches from the vehicle while driving, it could result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

For all involved vehicles, Toyota dealers will replace wheel lock bolts, wheels and axle hubs at no cost to customers.

Owners of involved vehicles will be notified by late February 2023.
