TORONTO, Ontario (March 22nd, 2023) – Get more, and give nothing. The 2023 Toyota Mirai expresses the advanced future of style, space, technology, and driving fun – while its hydrogen fuel cell electric powertrain produces no emissions beyond water. Available in Canadian markets where refuelling infrastructure exists, the Mirai is upgraded for 2023 with the addition of the power of the Toyota Multimedia connected services system.

“As we look to the future and as societies strive to reduce and eliminate carbon emissions from modern life, Toyota knows there’s no single technology that will help us achieve this. That’s why we remain committed to offering Canadian drivers a broad range of choices,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “The Mirai is a perfect example of this – employing one of Toyota’s many electrification solutions. Best of all, it’s a vehicle that people will love because it’s a beautiful car that’s a joy to drive – that also happens to be a zero emissions champion.”

The Toyota Mirai features cutting-edge technology, design, and driving performance. Built on Toyota’s GA-L premium rear-wheel-drive platform with front and rear multilink suspension, the Mirai features an optimal front:rear weight distribution of nearly 50:50, plus a low centre of gravity to deliver impressive handling and agility.

Under the hood, the Mirai performs essentially as an electric vehicle – but one that never needs to be plugged in to recharge. The safe and proven fuel cell stack is the result of more than two decades of development. It combines compressed hydrogen gas from the Mirai’s tank with oxygen from the atmosphere. The resulting chemical reaction produces the electricity to power the Mirai. The only by-product is water vapour, which is eliminated through a vent pipe beneath the vehicle. Best of all, the Mirai can be refueled in about five minutes, and has a range of up to 647 kilometres on a full tank.

The Toyota Mirai’s coupe-inspired body is dramatic yet refined, conveying a sense of motion with a long hood, sweeping roofline, and short rear deck. More than just beautiful styling, the body also achieves an impressive 0.29 coefficient of drag, aided by a number of bumper-to-bumper aerodynamic details. Design highlights include long narrow auto-levelling bi-beam LED headlights that sweep rearward into the fenders and a thin LED taillight panel that spans the car’s width and is tapered in the centre. This creates a unique signature after dark, with three distinct gradation lines.

Inside, Mirai offers driver and passengers a quiet cabin environment and comfortable seating for five adults. Exacting craftsmanship blends with high technology to give Mirai comfort that’s above the ordinary, while drivers will welcome an ergonomic design that puts all gauges within easy sight, and all controls in easy reach.

New for 2023, all Mirai models have been upgraded with Toyota Multimedia – Toyota’s newest in-vehicle connectivity package – with Safety Connect, Service Connect, Remote Connect, and Drive Connect. This is enhanced with a 12.3” touch screen, intuitive touch and voice activation controls, and connectivity with the Toyota App. Other standard technology features include a 12.3” multi-information display, Type C USB ports, and the Qi wireless charging system for personal electronics.

Epic moments require epic soundtracks, and every Mirai is fitted with a JBL Premium Audio system with 14 speakers including subwoofer, Bluetooth connectivity, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, and integrated Sirius XM satellite radio.

As a Toyota, the Mirai also features a comprehensive safety package. Leading the list is Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ – a bundle of active safety systems designed to enhance driver awareness and control. TSS 2.5+ features the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, intersection support and emergency steering assist. TSS 2.5+ also includes Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, Lane Tracing Assist and Automatic High Beams. In addition to TSS 2.5+, all 2023 Mirai models are standard equipped with the Blind Spot Monitor system with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Toyota’s Intelligent Clearance Sonar system with Rear Cross Traffic Brake, and a Panoramic View Monitor.

Toyota Canada will offer the 2023 Mirai in two distinct models, as follows:

The 2023 Toyota Mirai Limited enhances the XLE trim level, adding 20” chrome wheels, heated and ventilated front and rear seats, perforated softex upholstery, eight-way power-adjustable front seats with memory, a panoramic moon roof, multi-LED front turn signal lamps, illuminated entry, multi-colour ambient lighting system, a digital display rear view mirror, full colour head up display, a power back door, three-zone automatic climate control system, and advanced parking system.
