TORONTO, Ontario – February 1, 2024 – Record-setting electrified vehicles sales continue in January for Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI), representing 48.0% of overall sales, contributing to record January sales.
Electrified vehicles represented 46.5% of all Toyota Division units sold in January 2024, more than doubling the number of electrified vehicles sold year over year (up 117.6%). This includes record January sales of RAV4 Hybrid (up 298.4%), RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid (up 389.5%), Tundra Hybrid (up 116.5%), Prius family (up 782.1%) and Corolla Hybrid (up 38.0%). Toyota also saw significant year over year demand for its electrified Sienna (up 84.6%), Camry Hybrid (up 187.2%), and Venza (up 128.9%).
Electrified vehicles also represented 59.1% of all Lexus Division units sold in January 2024, including a January record for the RX Hybrid (up 8.6%).
A total of 1,824 Zero-Emission Vehicles (ZEV, comprising of EV, PHEV and FCEV) units were among the electrified Toyota and Lexus vehicles sold in January.
TCI’s best January on record
Overall, TCI sold a record 15,526 vehicles in January 2024, up 20.7% from January 2023.
Toyota division saw record January sales with 13,653 units sold, up 29.1% from January 2023. This includes a January record for overall Toyota RAV4 sales of 5,071 units, up 37.4% year over year, led by record January sales of the RAV4 Hybrid and RAV4 Prime. Prius family, Tundra, Corolla Cross and Corolla Hybrid also saw January record sales.
Lexus division saw January sales of 1,873 units, down 18.0% from January 2023.
Toyota vehicles assembled in Canada in high demand
January sales of the best-selling passenger vehicle in Canada, the Toyota RAV4, hit a monthly record, up 37.4% year over year, led by record January sales of the RAV4 Hybrid. Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada-made Lexus RX also saw strong January sales, led by record sales of the RX Hybrid versions.
