TORONTO, January 13, 2025 – Slide behind the wheel of the spirited, intelligent, and amazingly efficient 2025 Prius Plug-in Hybrid and discover the best of the electrified future. This year, the plug-in hybrid version of the global ambassador for advanced, electrified motoring gets a new name to highlight its incredible powertrain.

“The Prius PHEV’s name is new – but it’s the same stylish, exciting vehicle that earned it the 2024 North American Car of the Year Award,” noted Robert Tsang, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “The Prius PHEV offers Canadian drivers a no-compromise approach to electrification. It’s also just one of the many electrified models Toyota offers, engineered around a broad range of powertrains suitable for every lifestyle – including hybrids, plug-in hybrids, battery electrics, and hydrogen fuel cells.”

The Prius Plug-in Hybrid combines astonishing horsepower, a sleek and aerodynamic body style that’s low and wide, and a sophisticated interior loaded with intelligent yet easy-to-use technologies. It’s the marquee model in Toyota’s impressive selection of vehicles built around zero- and low-emissions powertrains.

The Prius Plug-in Hybrid’s powertrain is built around a 2.0L gas engine and an electric motor-generator system, which work in harmony to produce 220 system horsepower. This incredible system is mated to an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission and offers an estimated fuel efficiency of 1.8Le/100km for the SE grade.

A large lithium-ion storage battery gives the Prius Plug-in Hybrid an impressive electric-only range of up to 72 kilometers between charges and can be fully recharged in as little as four hours. When charging is not available, the Prius Plug-in Hybrid seamlessly switches into a highly efficient gas-electric hybrid, so range is never a cause for anxiety.

The Prius Plug-in Hybrid broadcasts its futuristic performance at first glance, with a body style that slices through the air with a remarkable 0.27 Coefficient of Drag. The style continues inside, with a modern cabin that provides ample room for up to five passengers.

Every Prius Plug-in Hybrid features the Toyota Multimedia system – a bundle of start connectivity technologies that keeps drivers informed and safe while simplifying their lives behind the wheel. The system integrates wirelessly with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and features Toyota’s newest interface, which improves interaction between people and vehicle through sight, touch, and voice.

Every Prius Plug-in Hybrid also comes with an impressive package of safety features headlined by Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 –Toyota’s suite of active safety technologies and capabilities that supports driver awareness and decision making to help reduce the potential for accidents. Other standard safety features include the Toyota Star Safety System, a backup camera, eight airbags, the Blind Spot Monitor with Safe Exit Assist, Front Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist, and more.
