TORONTO, August 6th, 2025 – The Toyota Prius is a global automotive icon. And after more than a quarter century of leading the evolution to advanced, electrified motoring, it continues to impress. It has evolved into a striking embodiment of sportiness and bold design, and continues to offer exceptional fuel efficiency, proving that it remains firmly rooted in its pioneering legacy while embracing the future of driving.

“As an electrification leader and symbol of forward-thinking innovation, the Prius rewards drivers every time they get behind the wheel,” said Robert Tsang, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “It’s one of several electrified options offered in Toyota’s lineup and a testament to our long-term, multi-pathway approach to carbon reduction. With its sporty design, advanced technology, and fun-to-drive performance, the Prius redefines what a hybrid can be - a proven, practical solution that’s easy to embrace as Canadians pursue more sustainable lifestyles.”

When it comes to styling, the Prius has a clean, modern design that expresses its sleek, exciting character. Built on Toyota’s second generation TNGA-C platform, the Prius has a low stance that merges dynamic style with impressive efficiency – conveying an athletic spirit. Futuristic styling is evident throughout, from its sleek bi-beam LED headlights and rain-sensing wipers, to its rear flares.

Inside, the high-tech, modern cabin invites up to five adults into a world of soft touch materials and smart design choices. Drivers will appreciate the nimble yet comfortable driving position, with excellent forward sightlines, heated and power-adjustable front seats, and a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel. Automatic climate control keeps everyone comfortable, while a 60/40 split fold-down rear seat opens up a world of cargo-carrying possibilities.

Under the hood, the 2026 Toyota Prius is built around the fifth-generation Toyota hybrid powertrain. This features a 2.0L Atkinson Cycle four-cylinder engine, a motor-generator system, and a continuously variable transmission. The Prius generates 196 system horsepower for a 0-100 km/h time of 7.2 seconds. All 2026 Prius models feature an electronic on-demand AWD system, employing a motor to drive the rear wheels. This contributes to driving stability under a range of road and weather conditions, while contributing to efficiency. The Prius achieves an impressive fuel efficiency rating of 4.8L/100km city/highway combined. Meantime, a Drive Mode Select system with Normal, Eco, and Sport settings allows the driver to adjust the powertrain, steering, and air conditioning controls to a variety of driving styles and conditions.

Every Prius features the Toyota Multimedia system – a bundle of connectivity technologies that keeps drivers informed and safe while simplifying their lives behind the wheel. The system integrates wirelessly with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and features Toyota’s newest interface, which improves interaction between people and vehicle through sight, touch, and voice.

Every Prius also comes with an impressive package of safety features headlined by Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 – Toyota’s suite of active safety technologies. Other standard safety features include the Toyota Star Safety System, a backup camera, eight airbags, and the Blind Spot Monitor with Safe Exit Assist.

Toyota Canada offers the Prius in two grades, as follows:

The 2026 Toyota Prius XLE AWD features the Toyota Multimedia system with Service Connect, Safety Connect, and Remote Connect plus an 8-inch touchscreen and 6 speakers. Other standard features include heated front seats, Softex upholstery, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, 19-inch alloy wheels, 6 USB charging ports, and the Toyota Smart Key System with Push Button Start.

The 2026 Toyota Prius Limited AWD enhances the XLE trim level, adding heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a driver’s seat memory system, a wireless charging dock for personal electronics, an 8-speaker JBL Audio system, an upgraded Toyota Multimedia system with Drive Connect and a 12.3” touch screen, a digital display rearview mirror, a glass roof, a powered back door, a rear camera washer, the Advanced Park system, and a Panoramic View Monitor.
