TORONTO, January 8, 2025 – Elevate every trip into an epic adventure, with the Toyota Grand Highlander or Grand Highlander Hybrid. These spacious three-row vehicles combine the versatility and capability of an SUV with the on-road comfort and drivability of a well-engineered sedan. With bold styling and an interior designed to ensure everyone is comfortable, the Grand Highlander family is ready to go the distance. New this year, Toyota Canada expands the choices by offering the Grand Highlander Hybrid Limited in both seven- and eight-passenger configurations.

“With seating designed to provide the ultimate comfort and space – even in the third row – plus generous cargo capacity, the Toyota Grand Highlander is the answer for the changing needs of Canadians,” said Robert Tsang, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “Whether it’s accommodating the daily needs of multi-generational families or inviting friends on a once-in-a-lifetime road trip, the Grand Highlander family elevates the ordinary into an epic adventure.”

The Grand Highlander is all about comfort – and with its adult-sized third-row seating, every passenger gets a great seat. And since cargo capacity is a priority, Grand Highlander offers an impressive 97.5 cubic feet of capacity with the seats folded. Even with a full house, there’s plenty of space behind the third row for seven carry-on suitcases. Moreover, the Grand Highlander features smart storage throughout the cabin to provide a place for every essential – from phones and tablets to water bottles. The cabin is also stylish and refined, with soft-padded surfaces, high-quality stitching, and elegant ornamentation throughout.

Toyota Canada offers two cabin configurations: grades with eight-person cabins feature a second-row bench seat, while seven-person grades replace this with a pair of captain’s chairs for additional comfort. Notable standard features on every model include power adjustable and heated front seats, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a wireless charging dock for personal electronics.

At first glance, the Grand Highlander is beautiful yet functional. Toyota designers placed a priority on visibility, expressed through a low hood line and large side glass windows. Rear doors are wide, offering great access to the third-row seats. Surfaces flow seamlessly from the doors through the fenders to the front and rear tires, expressing a simple yet dynamic design.

Epic adventures require impressive power and performance, so every Grand Highlander features an all-wheel-drive powertrain with three drive modes (Sport, Eco, and Normal) to make driving more engaging. Canadians may choose from six models built around three powertrains:

  • Grand Highlander XLE and Limited models feature a well-balanced 2.4L turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine and eight-speed automatic transmission. This combination generates 265 peak horsepower and up to 310 lb-ft of torque.
  • Three Grand Highlander Hybrid XLE and Limited models feature Toyota’s gasoline-electric powertrain technology for advanced power and efficiency. This Toyota Hybrid System features a 2.5L four-cylinder engine and electronically controlled, continuously variable transmission. This delivers 243 system horsepower, up to 233 lb-ft of torque, and a 3,500 lb towing rating.
  • The Grand Highlander Hybrid Platinum model features a Toyota Hybrid MAX system, which showcases the superior performance of Toyota’s electrification technology. This powertrain features a 2.4L turbocharged engine coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters – combining to deliver 362 system horsepower, 400 lb-ft of torque, and a 5,000 lb towing rating.

Every member of the Grand Highlander family is a technology showcase, headlined by the Toyota Multimedia system. This bundle of smart connectivity technologies helps keep drivers informed and safe while simplifying their lives behind the wheel. Toyota Multimedia integrates wirelessly with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and features Toyota’s newest interface, which improves interaction between people and vehicle through sight, touch, and voice.

As a Toyota, every member of the Grand Highlander family also features an impressive bundle of active and passive safety technologies. All models feature Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, designed to enhance driver awareness, decision-making, and control. All models also feature the Toyota Star Safety system, 10 airbags, the Blind Spot Monitor System with Safe Exit Assist, a trailer sway warning system, road sign assist technology, parking support brake, tire pressure monitoring system with auto location, and anti-theft alarm system with engine immobilizer.
