Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada wins 2025 Gold J.D. Power Plant Quality Award

CAMBRIDGE, Ontario – June 26, 2025 - Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Inc. (TMMC) was honoured today with a Gold J.D. Power Plant Quality Award in the J.D. Power 2025 U.S. Initial Quality Study recognizing the world’s top automotive plants. Today’s award, given to TMMC’s South Plant for building the Lexus RX, marks the 23rd J.D. Power Plant Quality Award - 13 of which were Gold or Platinum.

“This 23rd J.D. Power award is a powerful testament to the skill, passion, and dedication of the entire team at TMMC. Earning the distinction of the most awarded plant in the world is no small feat—it reflects the relentless quality mindset our team brings to every vehicle, every day. As my time as TMMC’s President comes to a close, I couldn’t be prouder of this team. In true Canadian fashion, even as they celebrate this milestone, they’re already applying Toyota’s pillar of Continuous Improvement to make next year’s vehicles even better. It has been a real honour to be a part of this team over the past twenty-three years, and leading it for the past five. I know their commitment to excellence will continue to drive even greater success in the years ahead.” Frank Voss, outgoing President of TMMC.

The J.D. Power 2025 U.S. Initial Quality Study includes 2025 model year vehicles purchased or leased between March 2024 and February 2025. Customers own the vehicles for 90 days following their purchase and then complete the J.D. Power survey. Plant awards are based on the lowest number of customer-reported defect/malfunction problems per vehicle. This year, TMMC’s South Plant in Cambridge, Ontario won the top award in the North and South America Region for building the Lexus RX. This top award is shared with Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. and is the twelfth award for TMMC’s South Plant.

TMMC has been recognized with 23 plant quality awards since 1991, the first year TMMC was eligible. These include three platinum awards, presented to the top automotive manufacturing plant globally. With the 2025 award, TMMC is now recognized as the most awarded automotive manufacturing plant in the world.
