TORONTO, December 17, 2025 – When you’re ready to fill your life with epic adventures, the Toyota Tacoma is ready for you. For 2026, Toyota expands the lineup of its powerful, capable, and connected mid-size pickup truck with two new grades, giving Canadian drivers a choice of 14 distinct configurations.

“The 2026 Tacoma embodies all the best of Toyota’s experience with building adventure-ready trucks that have been tested and proven in the world’s most challenging conditions. And with 14 models built around gasoline and hybrid-electric powertrains and two bed lengths, we continue to demonstrate our commitment to offering Canadians a broad range of choices,” said Robert Tsang, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “When you know where you want to go, what you want to do, and what you want to see, there’s a Tacoma ready to take you there.”

Epic adventures start with performance, and designers crafted every 2026 Tacoma from the outset to be equally at home on the streets or overlanding across rugged terrain. To provide impressive choice based on each driver’s favourite types of adventures, Toyota engineers developed three distinctive powertrains:

  • Two Tacoma models are fitted with a 2.4L four-cylinder turbocharged gas engine mated to a six-speed manual and part-time four-wheel-drive. This powertrain generates 270 peak horsepower and up to 310 lb-ft of torque.
  • Eight other Tacoma models pair the same 2.4L four-cylinder turbocharged gas engine with an eight-speed automatic with tow/haul mode and part-time four-wheel-drive. In this configuration, the powertrain produces up to 278 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque.
  • For truly impressive high-torque performance, the Tacoma i-FORCE MAX hybrid features a hybrid-electric powertrain built around the 2.4L turbocharged four-cylinder engine. These models – three with part-time four-wheel-drive, and a fourth with full-time four-wheel-drive – deliver 326 system horsepower and an impressive 465 lb-ft of torque, for a towing capability of up to 5,950 pounds.

What Toyota engineers delivered in capability, Toyota designers matched with robust good looks. Tacoma expresses toughness and capability from every angle, with many bold styling options from sporty sophistication to off-road ruggedness. New for 2026, all TRD grades are finished with a distinctive black Toyota badge.

At the same time, Tacoma ensures Canadians can undertake epic adventures in comfort and style, with spacious double-cab interiors with room for five passengers, filled with convenience and amenities.

Every Tacoma is a technology showcase, starting with the Toyota Multimedia system – a bundle of smart connectivity technologies that keep drivers informed and safe while simplifying their lives behind the wheel. Toyota Multimedia integrates wirelessly with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and features Toyota’s newest interface, which improves interaction between people and vehicle through sight, touch, and voice. Many functions may be controlled via the touch screen via the same gestures used on mobile phone screens. Other technology features include touchscreen display audio systems, USB charging ports, and a multi-information display for the driver.

As a Toyota, every Tacoma also comes with an impressive package of safety features headlined by Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 – Toyota’s bundle of active safety technologies and capabilities that supports driver awareness and decision making to help reduce the potential for accidents. Other standard safety features include the Toyota Star Safety System, a backup camera, eight airbags, the Blind Spot Monitor System with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, a tire pressure monitoring system with auto location, and an anti-theft alarm system with engine immobilizer. New for 2026, every Tacoma is now equipped with a motion sensor alarm as standard.
